My Saturday (boredom) cooking

The above image has nothing to do with my story 😜
As anyone who has been following me at all knows, I had surgery on Friday Mar 6, then went to Kroger for Microwave meals.
Saturday, I was bored and wanted to do something more with my time, so I decided to cook.
At Kroger in the meat dept, there is a section called "Managers Special" where meat that is about to go out of date is reduced, often 50% or more.
I'd found (and frozen) this hunk of "Chuck Steak" so Sat. I thawed it out

After looking online for the best ways to cook this monstrosity, I settled on the simplest, salt and pepper both sides, pound it thoroughly, then let sit in the fridge for several hours.
I wanted to use some soy or Italian Dressing for marinade, but I didn't have anything large enough to hold it.
I'd opened a can of "Garden Peas" some time ago, I'd eat a spoonful here and there, but I figured it was time to use it or toss it.
I hate throwing away food, so

I made an unorthodox combo of "Ro-Tel" tomatoes and those garden peas

Of course, this meant I had to have rice. (I'm good at cooking rice now)

Rice really isn't hard, if you have a trustworthy pot and stove
So the online Di-Structions said to heat x amount of vegetable oil in a cast ir-on pan,
which I happen to have found in a thrift store last year

It actually called for Olive Oil, but I didn't have a good quality oil handy.
I would really have rather have used bacon fat, but that would have burnt too easily.

It said to brown 6-8 min on each side then finish under the broiler.
I really avoid using my oven if possible, so I just did it this way.
And

“Voila!”

WOAH that is a giant steak. LOL. Did it taste good?

Hey @phoenixwren, I've just now used up the last of that steak, the last half onion I had on hand, some roasted Tomatoes and cherry peppers, lemon juice and Balsamic Vinegar, topped off with some grated Parmeggiano Reggiano.

Yep! The taste was good, but it was still a little tough, I didn't let it sit or tenderize long enough.
Still have about ¾ of it left
Thanks @phoenixwren. I haven't been out much lately, I hope you are doing well.
I heard from Mama Ceci this morning, more and more bleak down there

A beast piece of meat, for a beast man, there ya go!

Ha ha ha... thanks capt'n. Still wish I had some way to contact you out of the 'public eye' @captainquack22

Hurray for finding ways to use up leftovers! Looks tasty to me.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

ha ha ha... the garden peas were tasty.
I just found I had a craving for them and bought a can several weeks ago,
once opened I ate a few spoonfuls here, a few there so that I still had half the can left.
I did not want it to go to waste.
Thanks again @scribblingramma

Whoa that looks so good. You make me want to go out and cook myself a steak right now. Regarding the toilet paper I read somewhere that they would have made more profit buying toilet paper than crypto.

ha ha ha... that is a disturbing thought @watersnake101, the thought that investing in fa188m.pngpaper is more profitable than crypto.
Sheesh!
