THE COMFORTER.

HI GUYS!

So I will be sharing few of my paintings from last year /2023 with the creative process. It’s just a way to reflect and share my journey with you all 😊.

The piece depicts a child holding a teddy bear, with the radiant look that symbolizes warmth, hope and optimism. According to research and personal experience with people , teddy bears provide a sense of comfort and security.

THE LEADS:

The idea was initially sketched on a sketch pad which was showned from the second stage before the first sketch on the canvas.

IMG_1522.jpeg

The second stage with the sketch and the canvas, after my sketch, I proceed to bringing out the lines and forms with my acrylic paint but mainly transparent acrylic wash.

IMG_1534.jpeg

Still in the same transparent acrylic wash, I did same with my background as well.

Then I started my painting with acrylic on canvas. I painted the background first but most artists prefer painting the subject first, then the background later, but it all depends on which ever works better for you. I painted the hair and gradually proceed to the cloth with my first layer of paint before adding another layer to make it more appealing.

There after, I kept adding layers to the cloth and the hair to make it more appealing before going for the face.

So, here is when I started painting the face and adding and subtracting to bring out the forms and shapes. I started adding more details to the cloth too and the hair to make the finished work more interesting and appealing.
And for the teddy bear, I made use of tissue paper by pasting it on the surface of the canvas with glue to give it a rough texture, to make the subject more alive.

Down to the final shot.
What else do you love about teddies? ☺️

Hola @jayes-art

Absolutely, the piece is an elaboration painting which you must have your own interpretations on first encounter.
And am really sorry you couldn’t see the full picture on your monitor, so as to enjoy the full size as you are looking through.

This piece is great. I love the purple and the hair and teddy looks happy that's for sure but I have to say the same to you as to your colleague: I don't see what you described if it comes to the how this girl looks. I don't see the warmth, hope and optimism you mention. So what am I missing?

It's interesting to read how you made teddy.
BTW you mentioned the year 2023 at the start. Is it 2023 or 2024?
You made a great post but have a look at your hashtags

The first should be #artonsteemit #art #acrylic #girl #african

P.S. If you type the hashtags underneath your post they will automatically show. Make a list of hashtags which you can use if you post.

Thank you for your kind words and suggestions..will keep that in mind🙏🏾.

Regarding the girl’s look, warmth can simply means affection and something to look forward to. The idea is for the audience to have their own opinions on the piece which is most relatable. If look at the teddy closely, you will observe those words on it face (hope, optimism and warmth 😊).

And for the year, that was 2023. Which I said I will be posting few from last year (2024) as well.

Thanks for the suggestion once again 🙏🏾😊
