Today I am going to share my thoughts about the great festival Maha Kumbh with all of you. First of all we will understand what Maha Kumbh is.

What is Maha Kumbh and Kumbh ?.

The Kumbh fair comes once every 12 years, but the Maha Kumbh comes after 144 years. Today, the Kumbh fair is going on in the city of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is considered very sacred in Hinduism, the followers of Sanatan Dharma are coming from far and wide to take a bath in the Sangam in Maha Kumbh.

First of all, let me tell you what Sangam is.

Sangam is where three rivers are meeting, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. When these three rivers meet, it is called Sangam. People are coming to take a bath in this Maha Kumbh not only from every corner of India but also from the country and abroad. I just saw in a news the other day that Harry Potter, Bill Clinton and many other foreign tourists have come here to take bath. It feels very good to see when people from all over the country and abroad celebrate any festival together, Maha Kumbh is a symbol of this unity.

It is said that by taking bath in Maha Kumbh, all sins are destroyed and virtue is attained. Today, all the Aghori Babas, Naga Sadhus have come here from far and wide for darshan and are doing their penance. One can see the penance of one Baba after another. Some have kept one hand raised for years, some have been sleeping on thorns for years, some are wearing many types of Rudraksha beads, many sadhus and mahatmas can be seen wearing different types of costumes.

Where is Maha Kumbh held?

Mahakumbh is held on the banks of Ganga ji, like Haridwar, Prayagraj, Nashik, Rameshwar, wherever there is river Ganga ji, Kumbh fair is held there. But where the confluence takes place on the banks of the Ganges, that is considered Kumbh.

This Maha Kumbh bath lasts for about one and a half months, there are many such dates on which royal baths take place such as Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, Ekadashi, royal baths take place on all these baths.

Our country's Prime Minister, President, the richest man Mukesh Ambani, Chief Minister, all are coming to bathe, who have been provided full security.

Many people are also staying there in Kalpavas, who had come there a day before the Maha Kumbh started and they have booked a hut in their name there. Where all the facilities are available, they are doing their worship there, take bath in the morning and evening and cook their own simple food.

Everyone wants to be a part of virtue with a pure soul and are engaged in making this Maha Kumbh a memorable Kumbh. But there is so much crowd on the ghat that one should come very safely with children and elders. Because sometimes it becomes very difficult to control the crowd.

Mahakumbh Dubki ( Dip )

Taking a dip in Mahakumbh destroys all sins. It is said that if even one person from the family goes to take a dip in Kumbh, then he can take a dip in the name of his family and everyone can become a part of the virtue.

Importance of Mahakumbh

In Mahakumbh, lakhs of devotees are performing religious rituals, worship and bathing etc. with great devotion and are washing away their sins. All of you must take Mahakumbh bath, but carefully, because the crowd is very large.

Keeping this crowd in mind, do not go on any special royal bath, go on normal days, so that you can bathe comfortably and do not have to face any kind of unexpected loss.
