The society today is in a lot of mess. One could think that since human is growing in knowledge and wisdom, the society is supposed to experience peace and stability, but reverse happens to be the case. We wake up everyday to see a lot of things falling apart. Our homes are not longer places we find peace because of the animals that lives in us as humans. We cause a lot of troubles and trauma to one another. Domestic violence has grown so much that it's always the topic of discussion. What a shame to us as humans.
I'm not sure about other countries, but here in Africa especially Nigeria, domestic violence is on the increase and it has found a place in the society. Although domestic violence happens between brothers, sisters, friends, cousins, and many more, it mostly occur between husband and wife. It has taken a lot of people to early grave and it is still taking people there. It is something that we must find a solution to. If not, it will continue to cause more harm. Below are a few tips to avoid it.
- People should be enlightened about the danger of domestic violence on their health and emotional well-being of their kids.
- The government should set a strong policy to discipline any victim found guilty of domestic violence.
- Forceful marriages should be avoided at all means. Sometimes domestic violence occurs due to lack of love.
- Child should be equipped with the mindset of treating each other as brothers and sisters. They should be taught to love one another.
- One should learn to be silent or leave the environment when he or she sense that the other person is already upset.
- They should be an emergency contact in case of any trouble with your spouse or other members of the family.
What are the main reasons behind increasing domestic violence? |

It is true that there is no smoke without a fire. This means that behind everything in life, there is a reason. Domestic violence occurs as a result of many things. Below are few of the reasons.
- Lack of adequate mental health
- Poverty: it is said that when a man is poor, he sees everyone as his enemy.
- Forced marriage
- Inadequate knowledge about leadership and in proper use of power.
- Lack of adequate home training.
- Environmental influence.
I have never doubted the fact that charity begins at home. Anything you see someone doing outside, all started at home. Being it a good or bad thing, the story all start at home. No body grows up to become or possess a particular character in just one day. It must start somewhere, and that somewhere is the home where he grew.
I believe that domestic violence is worth protesting because it has caused so much harm to the life of many individuals in the society. It is not longer a thing to tolerate. This is why I said the government must set a strong policy to punish anyone found guilty of such act. How long are we going to tolerate and see the society falling? It is time we stand on our toes and fight again this injustice and deadly act. I consider domestic violence as an inhuman act because no normal person will mistreat another human. As such, we need to protest against it so that the life of the upcoming generation can be different, as they won't grow to learn such an act.
Domestic violence is as deadly as anything in the life of any child. Trust me, no child deserve to affected by the trauma caused by other individuals. Unfortunately, a lot of children are suffering it. Domestic violence has a lot of negative impacts on children. Below are a few.
- It makes a child to grow in fear and lack of confidence.
- It causes depression
- It makes a child to grow with love and trust for other people
- It makes a child to see violence as a way of life
- It causes risk of injury.
- It creates bad memories in the life of a child.
