The September #1 contest by @sduttaskitchen | Weird habit I want to change!

There are many things I have learnt about weird habits, one among many is that weird habits can be favourable for the carrier, sometimes there are spontaneous which is why an adult will always call us up for a piece of advice, you may not even notice that you are making a weird sound like that of a pig until someone out there points it out.

Am I weird? Yes, my habits are

I am growing, and my weird habits are gradually dying off, but I will share with you one habit my parents always point out to them. They see it as improper, and to my siblings, it was nothing. I was very conscious of eating with them, and I avoided these habits. If you know of African delicacies, then you will understand what I am about to share. When eating fufu/garri and soup, I was used to eating big balls (starchy balls), and when I cut them from the plate, my parents would wonder if they would pass my throat; they stopped me outrightly because most times I cut this in their presence unknowingly.

I think this is the most identified habit back then; no weird habits apart from this, and this was when I was young, not now, because my balls were no different from the balls of an adult 12 times older than me.

You and I need to change. Yes, we

I have habits I would want people around me to change; one of them is farting, oh damn! I hate the sound that comes with that sulphurous and pungent smell; it's better you keep it silent. I don't know how you would make that gas not come with its weird smell, but please keep it far from where I stay.

Another is gobbling, which is bad table manners, though I am sure that most times it is spontaneous, but try to be conscious of yourself so that these bad habits will not showcase. It is also a way of curtailing them, and with time, they will be absent from you.

The above were habits I would love people to stay around me to avoid, I just remembered another which I may not call a habit but a condition I put myself into which a factor is my environment when I am in school I found it very easy to wash my clothes because I am sure of going out anytime so I keep my clothes clean but at home, I rarely go out except on important occasions and I become less intentional about my cloth so I don't even keep count of my unclean clothes. Hello, Don't judge me by this. I am a clean guy, and I am working on this.

Can we all be weird? Yes, we all have weird habits, aplenty; you spot from me and vice versa.

As I stated earlier, we have many habits that we do unknowingly, and the only time we get to know that our habit poses discomfort to the people around us is when they complain.

I forgot to mention how much I hate when people snore around me, but when I was told by my sibling that I snore, I started analysing what could cause this, and I discovered many. Then I became very considerate with people that snore because of stress or a minor illness (like malaria) could be a factor.

@alli001, @kidi40, and @ngoenyi I would love to see you here.

First of all congrats to you you have participated in September contest, we all have some weird habits, we ourselves sometimes get annoyed by those weird habits, but we can't quit because of habit, thanks for sharing the nice post with us.

It’s true that many of our habits, especially those we do unknowingly, can only be recognized as problematic when others point them out. I completely understand how disruptive snoring can be, and it's great that you’ve taken a considerate approach after realizing you snore yourself. Recognizing the potential causes, like stress or illness, helps foster empathy towards others who might be dealing with similar issues.
