Introduction to snails

Snails are soft mollusks found all over the world. They live inside a protective shell. Some snails are aquatic and some are terrestrials.The giant tiger snails are examples of terrestrial air-breathing snail,native to west Africa . Some snails can grow up to 5 inches , with their characteristic yellow and black strip. They are good sources of protein and minerals and are sometimes essentialcomponents in our local cuisine in the preparation of Edikan ikong , okra soup and peppered snails.

How we get the snails

Some snails are locally picked in the farm and bushes during rain season , we also get quality snails from Cameron. And most of my clients prefer those imported snail to the local ones, saying it taste better .This is how it is shipped .

The video shows how the boat docked at the local port at oron , in the boat are some of my suppliers. Inside the parcel are snails and few other seafood , which will be off loaded.

Purchasing snails

We buy snails in bags and a bag of it is worth 50,000 naira at the current price of 386 naira per steem ,which equals 129.5 steem a bag of it. After which we sort them base on their different sizes .

Selling of the snails

I supply the snails to hotels and restaurants . Each bag of an average size snail contain 8 custard measure and selling each custard measure at the rate of 8000 with the current price of 386 naira per steem it equals 20.7 steem , creating an income of 64,000 naira which equals 165.8 steem with the profit of 14,000 naira.

When converted to steem at the current price of 386 naira per steem , it equals 36.2 steem .
