Hello fellow friends in the entrepreneur community, accept greetings from your friend @chant from Cameroon. I am happy to participate in this challenge with a focus on time management. There are a good number of my friends I have tried on several occasions to convince to join steemit. The response I always get is that I do not have time to do that your steemit thing. Wow 🤩 at times, I will just smile and said to myself, you cannot take a horse to the stream and force it to drink water. Yes oooh, one funny thing is that they complained of time to steem but are always on video chats and TikToking.

How do I manage my Time on Steemit

What I used as a motivating factor is that I am the one that has time and not time having me. Most of my friends are unmarried, meaning they have no family responsibilities that one can say will hinder them from steeming. I am a mother of three, a daughter 5 years old, my son who will turn 2 in July, and my husband. Oooh yes, my husband is my third child because I equally care about him. I equally have a career to build. I am a human rights defender and this also requires much of my attention due to constant fieldwork.

Nevertheless, I always have my evening hours to work on steemit and during weekends. The reason why most often I post at night when my kids must have slept. This will allow me to have a calm mind to concentrate and write quality content.

Posting, Commenting, and Replies on Steemit

Last week I had the opportunity to make 5 posts on steemit, and made 22 comments as per the statistics on the https://steemseven.xyz/ site.

At times I usually experienced breakdown along the way with health issues that hinders me from doing effective work. Last week was one of those weeks that I was having breakdowns due to health challenges. But I still created time to steem.

As I earlier said, most of my content, I create in the evening hours and I dedicate at most 4 hours to come out with good content.

As for replies, I do it at random each time I noticed a notification that requires a reply. For this, I do not have any specific time allocated for replies.

Last week, during the day, I had a responsibility to check on plagiarism on all content posted in the steem-cameroon community and write a report on Sunday, and I do not have any specific time to do it. But it takes me about 3 hours a day to check plagiarism on all content and comment on those plagiarised, and mute those with third warnings.

On Friday, I curate content on the steem-Cameroon community using the community account and select quality content for booming. Curating means, I checked club status, checked plagiarism, and check if the user has followed all the rules to qualify for booming. All these took me about 4 hours but can be more if there are many accounts to check before curating.

I usually wake up from bed early during school days to prepare my daughter for school. So last week I woke up at 3:00 am, reply comments, and messages in the community MoDs discord channel. I used about 2 hours for this every morning before starting with my daily activities.

Benefits of the Steemit Engagement Challenge

This challenge was timely when most steemians were unable to constantly create content daily. It has numerous benefits to steemians and the communities. The following are what I considered to be benefits of this challenge.

  • This challenge has made it easy for us to create content daily. Before this challenge, there were moments when you are willing to create content but do not have a theme or topic to write about. With this challenge, it is easy to create content every day without cracking your head hard to come out with a topic.
  • This challenge has made many of us committed to the platform. Even though votes are not guaranteed but most steemians are overwhelmed with joy whenever they receive curator01 and curator02 votes.
  • It has made us make new friends by commenting on other steemians posts. We have made new friends by participating in the different communities involved in the challenge.
  • It has allowed us to learn new concepts and ideas about the different challenges. For instance, the challenges in the SteemFoods community have allowed me to learn new recipes which I never thought of.
  • This challenge is beneficial as there is no rush to publish nonsense. You have to take your time, and learn markdown styles to apply them well so that your content will stand out amongst the hundreds posted each day.
  • It has increased the number of active users in the communities hosting the challenge.

My Suggestions to improve this challenge.

  • Users should not be limited to posting one challenge per day. This is so because, there are some users who some days do not have time to do a challenge but there are some days, they can do 2 or 3 posts per day.
  • I think the challenge should be done weekly by different communities. That is if a community hosts a challenge this week, then next week, a different community should host the challenge. This way some communities will not be dormant while others are trending.
  • There should be a standard beneficiary reward to those communities with charity accounts. Let’s say 5% as a beneficiary reward or better still make it voluntary because I believe charity is something of free will. You do not compel someone to do charity.
  • Also, in the end, those communities with charity accounts should report how much was received as charity from the challenge and how it was spent. This way there will be accountability and will encourage steemians to set more beneficiary rewards for charity.

Conclusion

In sum, the challenge so far is good because it has improved my level of commitment to the platform. Through the challenge, most steemians have learned new concepts and equally important skills like cooking good recipes.

However, I think the above suggestions I have made if implemented, will make the challenge more fascinating. Thanks to the steem-entrepreneurs community for bringing up this challenge this week. I will like @fombae, @saxopedia and @majerius to participate.

I just love your remark about there is "no rush to publish nonsense". (•ิ‿•ิ)
I have read a lot of posts over the last week and I can assure you that overall there has been a huge improvement on posts. On quality of the information and quality on the markdown styles.
Steemit has indeed kept us on our toes!

@chant, you are a strong woman taking care of your family and maintaining your role on this amazing platform.

5 post in one week is not bad, that's my same exact number of post last week too.

Kudos to you!!!

Thanks a lot my dear, it’s not an easy task but as the saying goes ‘time is money’, so I do not regret my commitments.

Hahaha, on point!

Sungguh sangat menyenangkan dengan melakukan aktivitas membuat Posting, Komentar, dan saling Balas komentar di paltform Steemit. Luar biasa sekali teman!

It’s fun 🤩 indeed and thanks for engaging.

Sama-sama 😊

This is well thought out thus making it a wonderful post. I admire that you take care of you children (including your husband) and you still find a way to Steemit.

I also admire your strength even in the time of weakness. You still try to post even when Ill.

In my own opinion I think all the suggestion you gave are on point execpt one. The one were you said a community should perform a challenge per week. Though the idea seems nice, but I feel other communities would be dormant because everyone would be focused on the community hosting the engagement.

But then again you are the one with the idea, so I guess you know better.
