Previously here I need to inform Steemian that so far I am still in the stages of learning steps with Steemit. Because I still don't understand deeper, it's more appropriate for me to continue to explore further understandings to understand more about the Steemit Platform.

Therefore, I must need to read a lot. And here I will share an understanding point of view about the Steemit Platform that I just learned about.

And here I share it in my post content today so that other Steemian friends can also read it through this post.

As an important note, that the content of the post that I share is referring to the content of @akar-rumput post with the post title : BASIC UNDERSTANDING ABOUT STEEMIT PLATFORM - CLICK HERE FOR POST LINK!

BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE STEEMIT PLATFORM

On this occasion I will try to explain the basic concepts of the steemit platform that we are currently using based on the results of my search and understanding.

To get to know a platform, of course, we must first know and understand the ins and outs of the basic concepts of the platform. What is the purpose of the platform used, how to use it, and so on.

Steemit history

According to Wikipedia, Ned Scott and Dan Larimer are the founders of steemit.Inc. Ned Scott previously worked for the Gallert Global Group, while Daniel Larimer is the founder of Bitshare and Eos.

Steemit was officially launched on July 4, 2016. Steemit is a social media platform that runs using blockchain-based technology, specifically the steem blockchain, and provides rewards (payments) for every post made by its users.

While Blockchain itself is a decentralized digital ledger and records all cryptocurrency transactions that occur, much like an accounting book that records all financial transactions, but everyone can access the data without being able to change or manipulate it.

The Difference between the Steemit Platform and Other Social Media

Source

The location of the difference between the steemit platform and other social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, reddit and others is that the steemit platform is decentralized, meaning that there is no data center like facebook, so we have full control over our accounts without having to worry about our accounts being accessed by the platform owner.

The steemit platform provides rewards (payments) to its users in the form of its internal digital currency called steem from social interactions that occur between steemit platform users.

Steem aims to support social
media and online communities by returning most of their value to people who make a positive contribution by giving them digital currency (cryptocurrency).

Steemit platform users can be curators, contributors/content writers or both, curators are people who vote, comment or just read a post.

A steemit user can write about various topics that he wants to discuss, the author will get a reward when his post is liked and upvoted by other users, it doesn't have to be just writing, but we can also post in the form of photos, artwork, and videos.

How to Get Rewards

Source

A steemit user gets a reward when his post is upvoted (liked) by other users, we will get this reward after a 7 day posting period which is transferred directly to our wallet in the form of Steem Dollars and Steem Power coins (default setting).

Before posting content, we can change the reward settings that we will receive. There are 3 options that we can apply :

  1. 50% SBD and 50% Steem Power (default)
  2. Power Up 100% (meaning we will receive rewards in the form of steem power only
  3. Decline Payout (refusing to be paid)

There are 3 important asset classes that exist on the steemit platform that we should know about :

  1. Steem (STEEM)
Steem is the fundamental unit of the steemit blockchain. All other tokens derive their value from the STEEM value. STEEM is a liquid currency, and as such it can be bought or sold on the cryptocurrency market (exchange), and transferred to other users as a form of payment.

  2. Steem Power (SP)
Steem power is one of the assets whose value and price is the same as steem, the advantage of having Steem Power is, we will get Steem every time a new Steem is created. Steem Power is also what distinguishes the value of each user's vote. The greater the Steem Power value, the higher the upvote value, the greater the reward obtained from the curator's results.

  3. Steem Dollars (SBD)
Steem Dollar (Steem Backed Dollar) is designed with the aim of creating stability in the value of money in the system. The price is assumed to be stable against USD, i.e. 1 SBD ~ 1 USD. Despite the fact that currently the price of SBD is higher than the price of 1 USD. (this is due to market participants).
SBD is generated through STEEM conversion at the time of printing in the mining process. These SBD coins can be traded on various exchanges and can also be transferred to other users.

So here's a little point of view about understanding the Steemit Platform that I got today through I opened and read the content of @akar-rumput post.
