Rangpur Cantonment is a Bangladesh Army cantonment located on the outskirts of Rangpur city in Bangladesh. Headquarters of 66 Infantry Division is located here.

Since the beginning of the freedom struggle, the people of Rangpur city have been protesting strongly. As a result, many common people were martyred by the Pakistan Army before the war started, which is also mentioned in Bangabandhu's historic 7th March speech. But by the middle of March in Rangpur city, on the contrary, the Pakistani forces were being harassed by the brave youth of Rangpur. Even a young man named Shahed Ali. Abbas wounded a Pakistani officer and three of his soldiers and took away their weapons.

As soon as the liberation war started, the people of Rangpur and the local Santal community attacked the Rangpur cantonment with native weapons on March 28. The Pakistanis had secured their brigade headquarters from the side of the city from which they expected an attack, the Bengalis turned slightly and attacked from the opposite side. This completely unexpected attack turned into a pitched battle when the Pakistani army broke through the first part of the cantonment. An apparently stunned Pakistani army then repelled the attack with heavy machine guns, at one point many Bengalis and Santals were martyred.

There is a memorial in their memory even today in the western part of the cantonment and at the entrance to Rangpur Nagar.
Then, at the end of the liberation war, the Pakistani attack on the freedom fighters of Rangpur and especially the killing of the popular freedom fighter Shahid Mukhtar Elahi within just one month, the freedom fighters of Rangpur fell this cantonment and liberated Rangpur city from the invaders.
