Okay, I am not a part of the coca-cola empire, so I do not know much about it also seeing that most of us alive today weren't even alive when the company which is now a corporation started, but tonight, I will be sharing with you a little about Coca-cola based on research which I will be referencing at the end of the post.
First thing you need to know is that Coca-Cola is a very popular name, in fact, it will be regarded as a generic name in the world which 98 out of every 100 person knows/have heard about (that assumption is very low because it is very rare to see someone who hasn't heard the name Coca-cola in their entire life). It is no doubt that we have all seen a coca-cola advert in our lives, in fact, who else does advertising better. Advertising 101 (Never sell your product, Sell an Idea). Coca-Cola will never tell you to purchase their product, instead they will make you go for happiness, Friendship, Harmony, Family, and those things are always portrayed with a bottle of Coke. Never to forget that they spend Billions on these adverts.
Coca-Cola was launched in 1886 by John Pemberton as French Wine Coca, and the company was sold for $2300 to Asa Candler. Candler did an advertising magic by giving coca-cola coupon for free coca-cola. During the life of Pemberton, Coca-Cola was advertised as a medicine but for Candler, it was advertised to everyone for every day gush of good taste. Candler improved on the advertising by making sure that there was a coca-cola logo at almost anything that you look at.
Popular Celebrities started showing in Coca-Cola bill boards and so on and so business was going well. Coca-Cola was sold in Syrup whiles the seller add the carbonated water and this was going on until Benjamin and Joseph decided to go to Candler with the idea of Bottling the drink and trust me, it was a success.
Coca-cola sells over $1 Billion Dollar if every one out of four persons buys a coca-cola products, and this is as a result of creating a life with customers where they attribute the product to happiness, family as well as sharing. If you remember the Share a coke with... campaign. Have you ever checked your name on a coca-cola bottle? That got you.
It is no doubt that marketing with coke deals with identity, emotion, and psychology. What do you think about coke marketing and tell me which other company marketing you love so much.
