Hello fellow steemians, it's great to be back again to participate in this week's contest, I am @patience90 and this post is set at 20% to @steemkindness.

How I got to know steemit

All my life, I try to avoid crypto basically because of the fear of scammers but the day I was told about steemit, I didn't think twice before joining simply because I trusted the lady who told me about it. I am someone who loves posting some write ups on my WhatsApp and Facebook status/story all the time. So on 23rd May 2021, my sister in-law @charis20 who is a fan of my status chatted me up about a platform where I can write and get paid instead of just wasting them then I asked her if I need any registration fee but she said all I needed was data and smartphone which was not a barrier and she immediately signed me up with some mentorship from @peachyladiva and before nightfall, my Achievement1 was ready and by morning, I already joined a contest on @steemitachievers which I won second position on the contest which raised my morale to write more and I've been active till today by God's grace.

How steemit and steem changed my life

Aside my passion for writing, one of the reasons why I joined steemit was because of the financial benefits because steemit came my way at that time in my life when I was going through rough financial challenges due to the theft of my business capital and I had no one or where to get another starting capital from because all the people I contact came with one excuse or the other. However when the opportunity came, I thought there is nothing to loose hence money will not be involved rather I will only cash out if only I post quality content not less than 300 words.

The first time I cash out was three (3) months later which was in the month of August and I was overwhelmed when I first saw NGN28,000 alert on my phone. I couldn't spend it and it was there in my account for almost 2 weeks before I spent it. Firstly I paid my tithe as a Christian then I got some foodstuffs for my family which I was prayed upon for more wisdom.

While engaging on a cooking contest, my Android phone slipped out of my hand and fell on the ground and the exact place that broke was my front camera which was the only functional camera on my device as at then because the back camera was faulty. I felt so weak and sad since everything about steemit deals with pictures. So I made up my mind that my next project was to get a new Android phone and by September, I bought a brand new Tecno Spark 7P at the cost of NGN75,000 cash and you can imagine how proud I felt and it made me put more effort into preaching the steemit gospel to every corner of my city.

In addition, i sometimes sponsor the refreshments during my city promotion and also joined charis20 to do a charity work by sewing some school uniforms for some less prevailed children and also a school whiteboard for the learners of the school for the deaf.

With Steem, I was able to recover my stolen capital and went back to my fabric business and I'm still standing strong till date because of steem and I am also into production of t-shirts for sale.
