INTRODUCTION |
I am sure we all have heard of how many employees suffer from abusive working environments and are still trying to heal from them. Taking 2020 the pandemic period for that matter, many workers were laid off and they are still suffering from the collective trauma of the pandemic. So then, how do you engage such workers in your workplace, organization, or company? Take a seat, and relax as we are about to discuss that here.
What is company culture, and why is it important for businesses? |
---|
We all know the definition of culture as a way of man's life, right? How humans associate with one another, how they carry out their day-to-day activities, the way they dress, the language they speak, their values, beliefs, etc... Generally, the entire aspect of human life is summed up as a culture. Hence, culture is the personality of a person or group of persons. With that in mind, then what would best describe a company culture?

Company culture is, therefore the common beliefs, values, norms, goals, and behaviours in the workplace or company. Hence, company culture is the personality of a company.
It is the reflection of both the written and unwritten rules and regulations that workers of that company adhere to. It is the totality of what the workers of the company think, say, and do when working together.
As important as culture is to mankind, so is company culture for every company. When the goals of your employees align with the company's culture, they are going to enjoy their work. Making the feel welcomed and loved where they are, as they're surrounded like minds and they wouldn't want to leave.
Having a strong company culture is likened to having a good dad where the feels they are his priorities, in the case of the company, the workers feel they are the priority, and not their output or revenue. This in turn can lead to;
- Greater engagement and productivity
- Better creative ideas
- Improved confidence and enthusiasm
- Higher retention
- Puts the company in a position to attract top talents
All this is achievable as the workers are happy, and feel loved and workers only like to work where they are appreciated. You can't change a child's school for him if he's happy there, can you?
How does a positive company culture contribute to employee engagement and motivation? |
---|
Company culture comprises individual behaviour and group dynamics in the company, that is to say, a positive company culture is most likely to rob its employees.

In the earlier section, I explained the benefits of strong company cultures on their employees, and how it brings about engagement and enthusiasm.
This is because, when the employees are happy about their work and not compelled into working, they become more engaged with their work. After all, they enjoy doing so.
On the other hand, a positive company culture can be a catalyst to motivate employees as when an employee feels supported and valued they feel better motivated and encouraged to do their best work, even at the point of challenges.
What are some key elements of a positive company culture? |
---|
Like the attributes of a good employee, so do the company with positive cultures, then what do we consider to be a positive company culture? Positive company culture includes;
- Good administration
- Nurturing teamwork and collaboration
- Integrating the values into our everyday activities
- Encouraging feedback
- Welcoming change
All the above-mentioned factors act as key components of a positive company culture.
In everything, good administration is the building block of any great company, an administration that carries the employees at heart, that encourages teamwork.
Generally, our culture is showcased in our values to prove their worth, thus should the company values the employees as these are the values that define the company, hence should be embraced into everyday work.
Another factor that promotes positive company culture is giving each and everyone free speech to give feedback and accepting changes as the world of business changes swiftly from the mode of operation to the type of employees with time.
CONCLUSION |
In conclusion, we've learned what company culture is all about and what having a positive company culture can do for our businesses. Not forgetting how we can maintain a positive company culture by embracing the key factors. On this note, I like to invite @kelvinblaq, @yakspeace, @edidiongeffiong and @abdullahw2.

I loved your analogy of having a good dad, where employees feel like they are a priority. It's so true! When employees feel appreciated and cared for, they become more engaged and productive. Good luck in the contest! 😊
