Hello dear steemians, welcome to my blog once again. I am very delightful to announce to you that I’ve joined the #club5050 since it's inception. It’s always been my greatest desire to have a lot of steempower above anything else. Steempowers is very important to the growth of individuals and steemit at large. Last month especially, it was a burning desire within me to increase my steempower and join the crypto academy. The desire has been fulfilled now as i recently submitted a sixth task to the steem crypto academy.. When I learned about this amazing project, it became even a motivation for me to reach my target. My target this month is to power up atleast 200 steem. It is what I am going to do and so help me God. After reading a lot of posts and and through my own research, I have come into the understanding of the whole thing. I learnt I need to power up 50% of my weekly earnings. I have a dream of having a 1k steem power milestone by christmas. I might not have the #club5050 tag niext to my name maybe because i have not made a summary of my power up in this community but i do have evidence here.

We have heard about steemit levels and how some people are calling themselves dolphins after powering up to reach 5000 sp. You and I have been called minnows while others have been called Whales. Today, I am going to be talking about these rankings and what they really are. These are marine-inspired categories. These rankings are based on user’s vest, which at any given time is directly proportional to their steem power.
Steemit is like a diverse and colorful ocean. From small to large, users are categorized from Plankton,Minnow, Dolphin, Orca to Whale.
The table below shows the proportionality between vests and steem

RankmVESTSSTEEMSteem power equivalent
Plankton00<500sp
Minnow1490>500sp
Dolphin104,900>5000sp<50,000sp
Orca10048,997>50,000sp<500,000sp
Whale1000489,974>500,000sp

You can check your VESTS using www.steemd.com
At the moment, I really don’t know the relationship between steem and vests and how the total supply change overtime. I would find out about it and say it in my next posts

PLANKTON

Plankton is considered as the lowest rank of anyone on steemit. Someone who just joined steemit can be likely called that. Since Minnow is more mentioned, I thought I was a minnow when I firsst joined not knowing I haven’t reached that level yet. I can say that 99% of people on steemit do not know that they are planktons. It is said that you need 1 million vests to become a minnow. To evolve from a plankton to Minnow, you are advised to create good and quality contents to earn rewards. You can also invest by buying steem and powering up as well as curating other people’s content and earning rewards.

MINNOW

Minnows are described often as the small fish on steemit. These are users who do not have a large amount of steem power. One of a minnows vote can only add less than a cent to your post. They may have low voting power but they are also regarded as important. It is known that thousands of minnows can combine to create the power that can reach that of a whale.

DOLPHIN

Dolphins are often seen this days as they are very celebrated in the ongoing #club5050 saga. They are users with 10 million vests. They have a medium amount of steem invested. One of their votes on your posts can add a few cent or a dollar to your account. At this Dolphins level, a user is said to be well established. They are potentially close to becoming an orca or a whale someday. They ussually earn more curation rewards from popular posts. They are also said to move with the wave of the ocean.

ORCA

An orca is qualified enough as a big whale but only has lesser steem power than a big whale. They are users with 100million vests. These users can put as much as $10 to $20 in payout.

WHALES

Whales are known as the king of the ocean. They creates the waves of the ocean. They have up to 1000 million vests and more. They can give up to $100 to a post they vote. They have the biggest influence of any rank. To check about the whale, you can look under the “trending posts” category.

DEAD FISHES

From the term, they are dead. And in other word, they are the inactive users. You might coincidentally find some account with no posts or activity. These accounts are of people who left before getting the work done. This can also refer to users who stopped being active at some point. Most of the early users of steemit falls into this category as most of them stopped being active due to a price crash in 2018 leading to many of them powering down and leaving to join hive.blog instead. I can say that majority of the users of steemit falls under this category. Some people become dead fish because they lack the basic knowledge of how steemit works. The period to become a dead fish I around 30 days. It is not really a worry as you become alive and swimming once you start posting and engaging again.

Steem power is not the only power one can possess on steemit. Everyone is so unique and has a lot to offer. So there is room for all of us to be successful content creators. We’ll rise to the top and grow to become whales someday. I personally want to swim up in the steemit ocean. I have strong ambition as this little fish to grow every day. Lets all see how many steem power we can get together. I hope this helps someone out there. We’ll grow, cheers.
