Hello Wonderful Steemians,
On a general survey, I can tell that Steemians a highly schooled people and are very familiar with the settings of colleges and other higher institutions of learning.
This is the administrative block of the University of Uyo. Here is where we have the Vice Chancellor's office and other principal officers of the institution. A number of other departments and parastatal occupy this building. It is like the focal point of the institution.
This is an image of the University Gate at Ikpa Road. Aside from the architecture, I love how the background is being decorated by trees.
The Convo Park. Here is one very popular and busy spot in the campus. This is where most students go for their online stuff. Things like payment of fees on the school portal, registration of courses, payment of dues and all other things that require internet access, printing and scanning. It is the information, communication and technology hub of my campus.
I would readily brag to anyone that art students in University of Uyo are the best. I get totally amazed by their innovative thinking and creative work. Simply passing through the campus is like a trip to an art gallery or a museum. This sculptures here are just a tip of the iceberg. There are so many incredible art pieces that are spread all around my campus. This article will not contain what I would have loved to show.
What is a school without books? University of Uyo has a number of masterful libraries. This is just one of them, the Nyong Essien Library.
I am sorry if you don't love art because I cannot ignore this epic piece. This particular picture shows two art pieces. The one farther away is an imitation of a traditional masquerade mask in Ibibio culture.
The very central one is actually the story of many students; having so much books to be read and so much academic work. Stress is actually an understatement here. Anytime I pass by this piece, I just smile.
This spot is by miles my favourite spot and I make it a duty to visit it as often as possible. Even when I do not have any reason to be here, these art pieces bring me around.
The problem of accelerated gully erosion in my state has not spared my campus. In fact, until recent, one of the most active and rapidly expanding gully erosion site was situated in the heart of the campus.
This gully was quite devastating and was threatening to carry away some critical structures in the campus. The photo above shows a gully erosion site that intervention work has be carried out. Here, stacks of granite and concrete were used to create formidable embankment around the gully. This construction work seem to be achieving its intended purpose effectively.
However, I do not know how many of you have been to or seen my prestigious school. Yes o, it is quite prestigious. It has a very rich history and has assumed its pride of place among other universities in my country.
It is the University of Uyo I am all boasting about. Don't mind me too much sha, I have to represent my own. The University of Uyo ( Uniuyo as is most simply and fondly called) is a great place to be. Though, there are still many areas where serious improvements are required, there are some wonderful things about my school.
In terms of amazing spots and scenes, University of Uyo has a whole lot of them. The only challenge now is how I will be able to accommodate all of them in this article. So, I would rather just give you a few of the images of my campus. From these, you will be able to create a larger picture of how the other places and spots are.
A whole lot of beauties abound in my campus. Sometimes, just strolling across campus especially the main campus is therapeutic. It heals what ever ills I was having and energizes me.
This is the male hostel. Even till now where there are many male hostels, the M2 Hall of Residence as it it officially called stands out as the most prominent male hostel.
A whole lot of interesting things happen here. Also, some bizarre and weird stuff also take place. Like the tap here can never remain functional even though fixed on a daily basis. Some bullying, stealing, gaming and a whole lot of other things that usually happen in hostels happen here.
Specifically, cooking is not allowed here. Also, ladies are not permitted to enter unless after obtaining an official permit. However, the hustle and bustle of M2 makes it a preferred choice of residence for most male students.
This building is called Bartholomew Ebong Hall.
It is a very frequently used building for both academic and non academic purposes. Lectures, seminars and workshops are usually held here. Also, students hang outs, debate competitions, pageantry and the likes are sometimes held here too. It has a whole lot of usage.
I mentioned earlier how natural the campus was. I believe you can start to agree with me seeing the amazing photos above. This particular one above is so so awesome. The green of the vegetation is simply splendid. This is somewhere around the faculty of agriculture at the main campus.
This landscape is a total beauty to behold and it is my best landscape.
Naturally, I love to explore landscapes and here in my campus we have a whole lot of spots to revel in.
Someday, you can come over let me show you around my prestigious campus. For now, stay safe.
