Hello friends and welcome back to our blog.....
Its been a very exciting 3-week reading and interacting with the amazing entries that we have so far received from the 11 teams that registered for this contest. The games have run uninterrupted and we believe that the teams are enjoying the experience and just can't wait for the next season.
In light of all the decent and positive feedback we have received, there have been some issues about #campusgames consensus mechanism. On our previous ranking update, we received complaints about the voting system which is the current means for consensus.
The voting system involved each team entry competing at the polls for a place at the top. We believed that steemains on the steemit blockchain voting for the best entry would be the best way to select the winners since the majority of steemians will vote for the best and so on. However, with this idea came a few loopholes, although Team members are free to solicit votes from steemians, soon it became certain that this system was unfair and didn't provide a fair environment at the polls, and most times better entries are often ignored.
Limitations of the Voting system
Quality posts were often ignored, we want to maintain a high level of quality entries that are submitted, and ignoring them is not the best way to do that.
Team members would often ask dormant or new accounts with zero posts on the blockchain to vote for them.
The New consensus system
In replacement of the voting system, we will adopt a grading system where team entries are graded by the #campusgames Team. We will analyze and grade each entry according to the quality and how unique the entry is.
Most of us, if not all of us know what a grading system is, this system is used extensively in steemitcryptoacademy and Newcomers community where each valid entry will be graded by a professor or a curator.
#CampusGames will adopt this system and it will be effective from week 3 and Week 4 and on other subsequent seasons of the game. Entries will be graded by the #campusgame team and awarded a score on a scale of 1-10.
This new system will not be applied to week 1 and week 2, we already have an updated ranking of week 2 results, so we apply this new system to week 3 and week 4.
