The name of my school is MICHAEL OKPARA UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE UMUDIKE, located in the south eastern side of Nigeria, with a mass land occupancy of about 5,000 plots of land.
It was established in the year 1992,it was formerly known as Federal university of agriculture umudike

Cost of education

The cost if education in my school as I have noticed, usually varies according to the leader of the vice Chancellor in charge, this is due to change power,after every four years of service.
As of 2019 which was my entrance year the school fees was high and it was later increase from the 54,500 naira to 61,500, which was too high as a federal university, but nevertheless it took some students time to pay due to the sudden increase.
But the new vice Chancellor of my university which was inaugurated on the 1st of March 2021, changed the New comers school fees and also accommodation.

I suggest and also plead with the Vice Chancellor of my university to make a reduction in the charges students pay ,these could be a way to change the cost of education in public universitie, because that is how it should be.

INFRASTRUCTURE

With new courses and faculty established in the university, there are new buildings but due to corruption and Nigeria system of Government the contract of new lecture halls awarded to the school are some times embezzled by the present government,leaving the building incomplete.
There are many lecture halls to be completed in my school ,but there are many exam halls . The lecture halls are not always comfortable to stay especially when we have a general course to offer as at that time.
There should be great improvement in the aspect of infrastructural development in my school.

We have a nice medical services center which was constructed before the admission of the 2019 set of students.

But the recent developments in the school tells that in the next few years there will be massive infrastructural development I the university due to the amount of new buildings been constructed every session. But in the aspect of lecturing halls they are hell it's so hard to see a comfortable place to learn with sweating, the fans are no more working, bills and posters every where ,making the walls look so irritating.

COMPETENT LECTURERS AND BETTER DEPARTMENTAL PROCEDURES

In the aspect of lecturing and lecturers,my school is filled with intelligent and capable lecturers who will teach every student to his best knowledge and also helps them with hints on how to read to be able to pass. But the issues associated with lecture in my school is the hall used it is not spacious ,no enough ventilation, I think there should be ethical planing about lecture halls so that students will be ventilated.

Secondly the way most things are being handled in some department,like my department electrical electronics engineering, we experience much stress than it should be due to low technology system.

SPORTING EQUIPMENT AND BETTER COMPLEX

Well I must say my school I not a place that acknowledge sports ,I said so because most activities in the school premises are not more of sports and most of the sporting equipment used are being purchased by individual students who are interested in the sports, but we have a massive land for field and pitch these places are being handled and manged by students and some times the school authority cuts the grasses and shapes the necessary things.
It is the duty of the director of sports in the Student union government to hold up to the school authority and remind them of the necessary changes to make to have an effective sport in the school.

ACCOUNTABILITY OF STUDENTS UNION

Accountability and trust for leadership in Nigeria has always been the problem amongst most of the political leaders who claim to be in the right place trying to put things together.
Every Nigeria University has a student Union, which is Abbreviated as SUG (students union government), this union is usually headed by a student who is elected by the students to stand always and speak for the students.
My school is also headed by a president who is trying his very best to see to the welfare of the students in the school, but according to story told,the SUG president cannot emerge from my faculty because of reason best known to the political leaders, but I suggest that an engineering student should be given the opportunity to govern the students and pilot the affair of the students to his very best.
The way to which election is conducted should be more modernized. Since this is an engineering school and we have a lot of learned programmers who are capable of making such electoral materials available with the digital knowledge they have aquired.
