FOOD SAFETY
Food is any substance classified basically as starch, protein, vitamins and fat which supplies nutrients to the body tissues for growth and development.
Safety is a state of being protected from various hazards which could be from emotional, atmospheric, environmental, just to mention but a few.
Food Safety are medical and physical approaches carried out by a nutritionist to ensure the food reaching the final consumers are in proper conditions to avoid health complications and gastrointestinal disorders after ingestion or subsequent consumption.
PROCEDURES TO ENSURE FOOD SAFETY
ISOLATION TECHNIQUE:
When food is obtained it should be properly isolated to avoid mixture of various compounds in different food. They should be isolated, moist/wet food from dry food substances.

PROPER STORAGE:
When these food items are purchased they should be properly stored in well preserved areas to increase their shelf life and prevent decomposition die to microbial actions In special cases.

Beans is bought by Mrs. Nancy and she stores the beans in a room with a leaking roof. The beans gets damp in due time due to leaking roof and gets spoilt due to poor storage.

PROPER PROCESSING HYGEINE:
When preparing a meal endeavor to observe proper basic hygeine, washing of hands before and after use and also washing the food to be processed properly to avoid microbial infestation and prevent food poisoning.

PROPER TABLE MANNERS:
During the serving and dishing of food proper safety precautions should be properly observed too to ensure good safety. These include;
- Proper washed cutlery
- Washing of hands before and after each meal
- Drinking properly purified water after each meal.

It's important to note that big fish contain Mecury contents when not properly boiled could distort the body system leading to cancer in the gastrointestinal tract.

Avoid red meat it increases blood cholesterol thereby causing serum and coronary heart disease. Eat more of white meat (chicken) for proper healthy living.
