THE WONDER OF MY HOMETOWN

I am Praise Iro and I hail from Eziafor Ohafia in Abia State. I would love to share some historical wonders that occur in my village. I hope we all enjoy the publication.

We the great people of the south east of Nigeria precisely the Ohafians reside on the mountain lands of the coast and we are graced with skilled swordsmen and industrious farmers who put in much efforts to feed the families of the town. I would be listing some precious wonders hidden in this little tribe. I hope u read with rapt attention. The comment session is open for various views.

THE PRECIOUS STONES

During the Christmas period, granny told me a whole lot about historical events that took place prior to our existence. She told me that precious stones where littered around the community back then, herdsmen would move in their numbers to the stream with deceit to take have a bath, what where they looking for? On an occasion someone spying on them noticed they where with little shovels and dug the yonder of the stream at night... These where precious little diamond stones!!.

These act was reported to the traditional ruler then and then to the commissioner of urban and regional planning, today, the stream is ostracised and industrial actions has begun the digging and mining of various stones and treasure hunt is on going in the town.

THE HUNTING MAMMALS

The farmers where about their normal business ploughing the field, each family allocated a portion of land by the autonomous community regional head. Strange things took course. These newly allocated piece of land to each family is actually in the thick tropical rain forest characterised by age long trees and heavy canopy-like trees. Sunlight barely enters the area.

The area was ploughed in no time and agricultural activities started off. However there where hunters in the area. The gorillas, you would not believe that these scary clan of gorillas usually attack the females, the could recognise the female features and get sexually aroused when the see the young girls or women queuing towards the new farm. This created chaos in the village, as a young girl got injured while running away from the dreaded.

There was remedy the hunters set traps and shot most dangerous gorillas, they where scared of men on trousers, and gun slings, therefore the ladies started wearing big trousers and male clothing using the farm hats to cover their faces and walked more like males...the scare crow did well too to end this hunting mammals too.

THE AWESOME VIEW

The fact that we are mountain dwellers tells a whole lot, I have always viewed a mountain all these years and I never knew this particular mountain I admired so much was the mount Cameroon!! It is with great joy that I tell us today that we share a common boundary with Cameroon, Guinea and some other neighbouring nations in Africa. The historians would attest to this fact too. I love my hometown and would forever do.
