The quest for qualitative leadership has been my watchword. Today in the cause of carrying out my constitutional duties as the Vocal voice of 27th parliament, in speaking for the common interest of Nigerian 🇳🇬 student has taken me wide and far.
Today, i was one of those delegates
that was selected to participate in the joint campus plenary session of the students representative Council University of uyo. To legislate on behalf of the student.
The theme of the program was tagged" youth inclusion in law making; A panacea for effective change in Nigeria political system. The program involves all the speakers of various higher institutions of learning which Michael okpara University of Agriculture was fully represented by RT. HON. CHIMEZIE GOODNEWS DIEGO

the program was very educative because it features the speaker of AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY in the person of RT. HON. ANIEKAN BASSEY and the Hon. Memeber Representing ETINAN NSIT IBOM and NSIT UBIUM Federal Constituency in the person of RT. HON. ONOFIOK LUKE.

In fact, this is one of the best program I have ever attended that provides the platform for Nigerian students to air their view about politics and also promote Nigerian students involvement in politics. Not withstanding, the way youth and students are being used as machineries in carrying out all forms of electoral malpractices is very alarming and not considering giving them right to be involve in ruling.
it is also believed that youth and students can also Savage the problem of our Society if given the chance to participate effectively in politics.
At the cause of the joint campus plenary session in uniuyo, a bill was passed on "A MOTION TO EFFECT CHANGE IN NIGERIAN'S POLITICAL SYSTEM THROUGH INTENTIONAL AND REALISTIC INCLUSION OF YOUTH IN LAW MAKING. The motion was moved by Sen. Usoro Emmanuel and was seconded by Sen. Rapheal Umanah.
With respect to the team of the joint plenary, that is, youth inclusion in law making; A panacea for effective change in Nigeria's political system. l seem to agree with what is obtainable in most part of the world that youth are the leaders of tomorrow but in studying Nigeria's case, one might be tempted to ask how much of a tomorrow, as leaders, the Nigeria youths really have. The recent expressions of youth discontent across the country can be seen in the ENDSARS protest that engulfed the year 2020. Also, the not too young to run campaign which was geared towards political advantage, offering striking instead of the more recent political determination of the youth to take their engagement with Nigeria but seriously. Youth are tagged inexperienced and unfit to lead because of their young age and a host of other factors. The Nigerian National Youth policy 2009 define the youth as those between the ages of 18 and 35 years yet still the office of the minister for Youth as never be occupied by the youth.
After much deliberation on the motion corrections were made and the bill passed.
Am happy that i was one of the persons that helped to speak on not too young to run policy in university of uyo.
God bless NIGERIAN 🇳🇬 student's
God bless Michael Okpara University of Agriculture umudike.
Am,
CHIMEZIE GOODNEWS DIEGO
