Hello guys, good morning everyone, this is a very good and interesting topic when it comes to my school and other nigerian universities and it is one i have talked about and with this contest, i have the opportunity to write and air my view.
I am going to talk about the cost of education, adequate infrastructures, competent lecturers and better departmental procedure and well equipped and better sports complex

  1. Cost of education
In nigeria here, relating the state of the economy and the amount of money been paid by nigerian parents is really alarming especially the the ones sending their children to federal and state colleges to cut costs but yet in federal colleges, the tuition fees are still high despite the fact that students have to to pay extra money for accommodation, text books and other deemed necessary school materials which could be covered by the government.
For example, if there was enough hostels for each student, some wouldnt have to stay off campus which is way more expensive.
The best way to solve this is by funding nigerian universities by increasing the percentage allocated to the education system because cost of education has a detremental effect on the nigerian education system in the sense that many of the out of school nigerian children is due to the fact that education here is quite unaffordable.

2.Adequate infrastructures

In most nigerian universities, the infrastructures are old and some have not been renovated since they were established and this is a factor that impedes student learning in school because adequate infrastructures like good class rooms, practical halls should be well equipped and be spacious enough to serve the amount of students being admitted yearly into the institution but its different here because as the years go by, the nigerian population increases, increasing the amount of students being admitted into schools but yet the classrooms, hostels, practical halls have not being changed due to lack of enthusiasm the government shows towards the education system in nigeria.
This can also be improved by .
funding, in 2018, only 7% of the yearly budget was allocated to education which is far below the recommended 26% by unicef, now this even leads to some teachers not being paid, school infrastructure being thesame yearly and not improving as the world changes which is detremental to nigerian students

Competent lecturers and better departmental procedures
This is a very good point because many lecturers frustrate students and departmental procedures as a whole adds to this frustration, ill give examples.
I' ll use registration of courses as one good example where after students register their courses online, they are still required to get some signatures from different staffs to register , now these lecturers that are to sign for students inorder for them to carry out the manual registration are nowhere to be found sometimes or they say they are busy, this leads to the department asking for extra fine due to the fact that you came late for manual registration not even allowing you to explain why, this is bad because in this age that we are, manual registrations wouldnt be necessary when it could be easuly done online and if it is to be done, a simpler means should be adopted to accomodate every student and save them the cost of paying extra fees to the same department who could'nt help them, lecturers should be punctual and ready to help students like their own children and this will serve a greater good than being late, harsh and putting on the "i dont care" attitude.

3.Well equipped and better sports complex

This all points to inadequate funding of nigerian universities because money and a good administration system will make sure students have good equipments in sports to enable those who are good in those areas of sports entertain the others and this is very important because during these sport activities, people get to know each other and bond better because they share the same love for a particular sport and this also help students balance their social life which is very important to every for their normal well being, it could be football, basketball, cricket and even other social activities like singing, dancing etc, good euipments should be provided for all these activities to go smoothly.

Conclusion
From all i have said, nigeria's education system is weak and also corrupt and this affects the bright future of the nigerian students and all these could be changed by the government's enthusiasm towards education.
Bribe should not be collected to give or get a lecturer job (it brings bad lecturers into the system)
More funds should be directed towards the education system to improve the school infrastructures, increase lecturers salary and lower cost of education so thst the average nigerian can afford it.
These are two efficient cahnges i feel ahould be made in nigerian universities because a bad government leads to bad administration, lecturers which leads to bad students, thank you.
