Good day all, my name is malume from university of Nigeria nsukka , Enugu campus . A medical student in 300 lvl currently . I am going to tO talk about a very important part of the body today , the arm .

The arm is one of the most important part of the body starting from the shoulder join and ending in the elbow joint. It is an important part cause it helps us lift things , hit things , eat , work , in fact It is a very important part of the body. Before I talk about the component of the arm let me explain something , when you hear the arm I am talking about only the upper part of the full length most people call my hand

Components of the arm

The arm is made up of two main components :
1.Humerus
2.The muscles :anterior and posterior compartment

Humerus

source

This is the only bone found on the arm and is a very strong bone forming a joint with the scapular above to form the shoulder joint . This joint is the most mobile joint in the body but it sacrifices movement for stability meaning that it can easily be dislocated when compared to other joints . It is surrounded by muscles which help in pulling it to perform different functions . It has two heads: surgical and anatomy heads . The heads is at the proximal part while it had epicondyle ( medial and lateral ) at the distal part.

The muscles

There are 4 muscles in this part of the body. They are divided into two compartments :
1.Anterior compartment
2.Posterior compartment

Anterior compartment has 3 muscles in it while posterior compartment has only 1 muscle in it

Anterior compartment

1.Bicep brachi
2.Brachialis muscles
3.Coracobarchialis

Posterior compartment

1.Tricep muscles

Note: All muscle of anterior compartment are innervated by musculocutaneous nerve and they flex ( reduce the angle between the joint)the elbow joint while all muscles or the posterior compartment are innervated by Radial nerve and they extend the elbow joint(increase the angle between the joint.
