Ofcourse we all know that a good student in high school or secondary may not be a good student in college, some who were exceptionally good in secondary school find it hard to excel academically in campus and sometimes others who have a history of having good grades while in high school find out that in college they often fail to keep up some even slack back or perform woefully much to their surprise ofcourse past performance never guarantee future success or the fact we were good in secondary school that doesn't mean we will be that good academic-wise on campus.
Most times we might struggle on campus because we are used to having good grades or expect things to always go our way or maybe we are not used to being independent because let's face it, back in high school especially for those of us who doesn't board we often rely on our parents for everything an any decisions the only thing expected for us is to study while on campus we have to go through the rigours of life itself by being faced often with life altering decisions even little things as what to eat, when to eat and when to cook could affect our schedule things we don't worry about at home coupled with other decisions we have to take ourselves plus the fact we have to study our books.
Well to excel on campus we need to understand is not always about being a study hack or brutal craming section rather academic success has to do more with discipline and time management and smart study techniques which focuses more on comprehension than memorisation.
How we can excel in our studies & succeed on campus
Well to be able to do this we need to be able to read and study yes studying is important and we need to develop good time management habit and let's say we also excel in time management then we also need to actually beat procrastination which will allow us do the stuff that needs doing, i will like to talk about some useful habits which could actually help us excel on campus.
For starters i think we should avoid the triangular habits, that is being a triangular students, what do i mean by this, a triangular students is one who leaves his lodge to lectures from lectures to tutorial and then back home without any real time for theirselves they actually run the risk of tiring themselves while neglecting personal studies because by the time the finally return home they will be too tired to even study their books.
2
We also need to strive to keep a work progress journal kind of which helps us keep track of our work progress and encourages us to keep up the streak so as not to slack back and be motivated
3
Make sure to eat the right amount of food and and high intake of fluid preferably water up to atleast 9 glasses of water per day to help us boost our energy and our focus
4
We should also strive to build a routine for daily studying and by deciding the days to study a given course or a topics and for how long will intend to study it, we need to do this until it becomes a habit when work eventually becomes a habit we will find it much easier to study freely without seeing it as a burden.
5
We should also try to be realistic while making our reading schedule by not planning to cover so much materials at a time which we make us tire out and make us resort to procrastination whenever we think of studying making us feel studying is too difficult a task
6
We can also have close friends that are like-minded with whom we study together we need to make schedule to study with them especially if it's a hard topics for better understanding and whenever we finish our work organising a little refreshment or entertainment is not a bad idea
Well to succeed acedemically we need only not be willing to read but we should know when to study and for how long understand that what works for John maynot work for Peter so we should make our plans accordingly to be able to properly manage our affairs all right
