Technology can be regarded as the practical form of science advancement and knowledge which is applied in solving everyday problems. In essence, technology encompasses those tools and gadgets invented by advancement in the knowledge of science which is used to solve humans needs and problems.

Technology plays a big role in the affairs of mankind. A tool which diligently and relentlessly executes the tasks assigned to it with ruthless efficiency and timing. Example of several groundbreaking technologies include:

• Robotics: These are complex products of science and engineering that are capable of replicating or mimicking human actions and functions. They are inbuilt with Artificial intelligence. That enables them to process and analyze problems and come up with solutions.
• Smartphones: Smartphones are portable or handheld devices with an integrated computer operating system which can be used in sending and receiving texts,and running of mobile applications.
• Blockchain Technology: This is a decentralized system of recording information such transaction in blocks making such information incapable of being edited or hacked.
• Health gadgets and monitors: These are medical tools which assist an individual carry out normal healthy functions. They can be tools which record information or assist a doctor .
• Architecture Technology: This has led to breakthroughs in structures and buildings development.
• Virtual and Augmented Reality...e.t.c

THE SMARTPHONE TECHNOLOGY

A Smartphone is a portable, handheld technology tool with an integrated computer operating system, which is capable of sending and receiving calls and text messages, and running a wide range of mobile applications.
The smartphone technology is a blend of science advancement, artificial intelligence and advanced engineering.
The smartphone technology is the singular tool which has made the biggest impact in my life due to its wide range of important and relevant features.

WELCOME TO THE PLANET OF THE SMARTPHONE

The smartphone is global, ubiquitous and widespread. Infact, it is the single fastest selling gadget in the world. Above 60% of the world adult population use a smartphone, and funny enough about 10% claim to use it even while having sex! The smartphone technology is portable and gives you access to wide range of features anywhere you need it.

One can bank, reach out to business partners, have access to Educational materials, play games ...etc anywhere and anytime from a handheld device with the processing power of an average computer.

Indeed, a smartphone is the best definition of a personal computer.

IMPACT AND BENEFITS OF THE SMARTPHONE TECHNOLOGY ON A CAMPUS STUDENT

A. INSTANT COMMUNICATION:

The smartphone technology has made easy and instant communication possible. Distance is not a barrier. As calls and texts are sent and received in real time to anyone in any corner of the globe. This has been a very useful tool to me for business, education and communication with loved ones and peers.

B. INTERNET ACCESS:

A smartphone in addition to call and text features are capable of surfing the web.
Infact, up to 70% of time spent on smartphones are used accessing various internet services.
Information flow across the internet has been of tremendous benefit to me. Google and Wikipedia are powerful tools for my education. Scholarships and jobs offers are available online in the internet.
Social media apps are available for interaction with friends online on smartphones.
I access the internet daily to know the current affairs of the world. And to explore as much possibilities as possible of business, education and fun!

C. ENTERTAINMENT:

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.
Smartphones gives a user access to gaming and entertainment tools such as videos and camera. This tool provides a user with easy access to entertainment anywhere and anytime for purpose of relaxing the mind and body.
I use a lot of mobile applications such as PUBG, CHESS etc. during my leisure time.

D. DIGITAL BUSINESS TOOL:

One can brag that smartphone is the biggest tool for business.
With smartphones I get instant access and updates to business platforms such as the Blockchain technology,Forex Market and STEEMIT.
Quick reminders for business appointments are organized with smartphones.
Banking Mobile apps and online business stores such as Amazon and Alibaba are easily accessible with my smartphone anywhere and anytime.

E. GPS SERVICE:

Smartphone gives me access to instant geolocation services. One can find a nearby restaurant, route to a distant town or venue for an event from just a moment of few taps and scratches on the smartphone screen. GPS services are offered by applications on a smartphone such as Google Maps.

SUMMARY

Technology has vast benefits in all it's applications. The most relevant technology I consider as a Nigerian Campus Student is the smartphone technology. The list of the features and benefits of smartphones are innumerable and inexhaustible. The few I highlighted above are just a scratch on the surface. The smartphone technology indeed has been the technology with the strongest impact on my life and the life of an average Nigerian student.

Indeed it has changed my life, giving me access to tools which has made me improve on all spheres of my life.
The smartphone technology has proved invaluable in my business, education, social life experience etc.
The smartphone technology being the fastest selling gadget proves its importance globally.
