ASUU STRIKE

In every society in world especially in well developed countries education has been a sector that drives development in the society,This developed countries understands that with a well structured educational system there's a full force of Development in their society.

why do I say so?

In a country were education is valued like Gold both teachers and students strive to accept learning and innovation with full heart knowing fully well is for the betterment of their society,which in the process creates youths who are productive or should I say innovative for the future of the society . If we critically watch countries who don't have value for education the are society who suffer deeply on poverty and underdevelopment .
So many African countries especially in Nigeria the government have decided to channel it's energy on unnecessary things which has brought a heavy downfall to the growth of Nigeria both in past and present making every where to be in a case of Dalema where the educational sector has been placed as a playing ground for politicians.in Nigeria today, the educational sector has always been a sector full of frustration which has destroyed so many wonderful and beautiful ambition and aspirations, most especially in the Higher institutions which is supposed to be a hub of highly integrated center of innovation and a place of creativity and intellectualism .

Talking about Nigerian universities we have a national body who job is to make sur they affairs of the universities are in proper hands , THE ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES (ASUU) have been on strike for the past two months so as to make the Government to do what is proper in the universities before it collapses which is already happening before our eyes,This union has always tried to fight for Nigerian universities for the better but it's seems to be all in vain.
Back in the days even before I got into the university I have been hearing about ASUU strike and I kept wondering what was actually the problem and how it can be solved, because this strike actions has come to become an annual culture In Nigerian universities which always occurs almost every year ,which I will say this act has brought a huge downfall to the
universities and society at large.

DO YOU THINK THE STRIKE ACTION WILL SOON END?

This has always been a question of a common Nigerian student well, in every beginning there is always an end but concerning the ASUU STRIKE I don't think so only if the union and they Government at large decides to be truthful to themselves and to the society at large.and also if only the union and the federal government can understand the high level of downfall the misunderstanding and action has brought to the universities and students, frustrating ambitions and aspirations that would definitely bring development to the society in the future by this young students who are in the universities.

EFFECTS OF THIS STRIKE ACTION TO STUDENTS.

They have and will always be a Bad effects of this strike action on students because when two elephants fights the grass suffers , the universities Declaring a strike action is just like postponing students academic activities .This action has brought frustration and sorrow In the Life's if students especially students who cater for themselves without any help from guardian of parents and Also students who are at their finals bring extra years to their years of studies ,not only that students will have to pay double of what they paid before the strike if only the elongated so much,This action has also demoralised students on studying hard for a better results .
An idol mind will always be a devils workshop when students are Idol especially for those who don't engage on any productive task while at home they are forced in letting themselves be a workshop of the devil by joining all kind of illegal doings example cyber crime (Yahoo yahoo) cultism and other illegal act you can think of in this present day, research has been made that in every ASUU strike that is taken more youth are involved in criminality which has made the society to be in a state of Dalema.
Nevertheless when talking about effects it's could always be good or bad effects I must say that the strike action has also brought positive results on students by making some students to explore on creativity and so many Good activities .
I know of a mechanical engineering students who is exploring this strike so well by working in a mechanic workshop where he comes everyday to acquire practical knowledge of his area of study as a mechanical engineering student.
This has also helped students like me to discover their hidden talent and explore on them , I'm an agricultural and bio resources engineering student by I have a wonderful talent in creating wonderful art works which I started to explore in my first experience of ASUU strike in my 100level.

WHAT CAN THE GOVERNMENT AND THE UNIVERSITY UNION DO TO BRING CONVULSIVE END TO THE STRIKE.

As I said earlier there is always an end in every beginning though I don't think so that could happen in this present strike action by ASUU.
The government of Nigeria has failed so badly to understand the value of education to the society ,if only they can understand that I'm sure all they problems will be solved. Than being silent as they are frustrating students and lecturer in general I suggest they should just stop channelling funds to unnecessary things ,like I read from a comment on this contest by a member of this community I quote" The Government are busy sending money to Afghanistan and Niger Republic when they have issues in their country"
I must say the Government has to do the needful and stop showing a very bad behaviour on its students and citizens at large.
In conclusion The federal government and ASUU should sit themselves down and tell themselves they truth and discuss the way forward on Nigerian universities and the educational system in particular.
