About my school

The name of my school is University of Lagos. It is located in Lagos, Nigeria. It was established in 1962. The university has three campuses; two of its campuses are located in Yaba(main campus in Akoka and the School of Radiography) its college of medicine is located in Idi-araba, Surulere. The institution is reputable for producing some of the most outstanding individuals in the country. These distinguished persons can be seen breaking grounds in various fields ranging from politics, law, entertainment and sports. Some have even gone ahead to become world renowned professionals in their respective areas. These achievements have earned it titles such as; the University of first choice and the Nation's pride. It is not surprising that the university receives thousands of applications for admission each year. Applicants from all over the country come to seek entry into this prestigious institution of learning.

The Joint Matriculation Board cut-off mark required for year one candidates

As a result of the high number of applications received by the university each year, the admission process is usually very competitive. The JAMB cut-off mark is 200 after which successful candidates would then be required to sit for the university's Post Utme examination. Admission into the institution is determined by three examinations; SSCE(WAEC/NECO), JAMB and the institution's Post Utme. Candidates' scores from these exams are then combined and taken into consideration in order to determine the departmental cut-off marks for each course. Applicants who meet up with the required points are then permitted to proceed for the online and physical screening.
please note that candidates who fail to obtain a minimum of 30% in the post utme would not be considered for admission, regardless of whatever scores they may have obtained in the JAMB UTME.

Necessary documents required to gain admission into UNILAG

The screening stage has to be the most hectic of the admission process. Candidates would be required to purchase an online screening form which would enable them submit relevant documents online, via the school portal. Newly admitted students would be asked to scan copies of their original documents. The documents include;

  • O'level result or certificate
  • JAMB admission letter(institution's copy)
  • Testimonial from secondary school attended
  • UTME result slip
  • Birth certificate
  • State of origin certificate
  • Reference letter from a reputable clergy, lawyer or senior civil servant.

After the online submission of these documents, candidates would be mandated to take a drug test before proceeding to do the physical screening as the university has zero tolerance for drug use. Anyone who tests positive would have his/her admission terminated. During the physical screening, each candidate would be asked to go to their respective departments, along with documents listed above and the screening form generated after the completion of the online screening. Documents would then be verified and approved by faculty/departmental officers, after which being cleared, would permit candidates to proceed to the next stage.

Okay I must say unilag is beautiful. It's reputation is unwavering. Does the school fees change vary often?

It really is @sandrakez
And no, the school fees don't change often....like i said earlier in my post, newly admitted non-science students pay a sum of #59,500 while the science students pay #69,500. Please note that this does not include faculty/departmental dues, as that is paid seperately to your faculty/department. Then all students who wish to stay on campus in unilag hostels pay #25,000 for the entire session.
