At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. Know how to keep their environment clean.
  2. Know the items used in keeping the environment clean.

Previous knowledge
The pupils in their various homes have been cleaning their environment, so it is typical example of what we are talking about.

Step 1
What is keeping our environment clean?

Keeping our environment clean means removing dirt from around us.

Step 2
Types of dirt

  1. Pieces of paper
  2. Orange rind and peels from other fruits
  3. Dry leaves
  4. Rags
  5. Dust and mud
  6. Empty tins and bottles
  7. Empty cellophane bags
  8. Stagnant water

All these things make the environment dirty and unhealthy.

Step 3
Ways of keeping the environment clean

We keep our environment clean by doing the following:

  1. Sweeping the floor
  2. Cleaning out the drain to prevent odour or stagnant water
  3. Cutting the grass
  4. Proper disposal of rubbish
  5. By cooperating with government health workers who also help to keep the environment clean.

Tools used for cleaning the environment

  1. A broom
  2. A hard brush
  3. A rake
  4. Cutlass
  5. Dust pan
  6. Dust bin with a lid

Benefits of a clean environment
It makes the environment beautiful
It promotes good health
It makes the environment free from bad smell
It drives away germs and diseases.

Evaluation:
To ascertain their level of understanding of the learners, the teacher will ask the following question;
