Hello to everyone in this wonderful Steemit Network community! I extend warm greetings to all my readers. This is my first time posting around here, and I'm excited to start with this contest that touches on one of my favorite subjects: reading and the wonderful people who make its existence possible.

Isabel Allende

The physical books I have by Isabel Allende.

Since I was a little girl, I always enjoyed reading; it was my method to find peace, so in any way I sought means to immerse myself once again in letters and words. Suddenly, when I was about eight years old, I came across a book called The Pygmy Forest by the wonderful Isabel Allende. This book introduced me to a different universe; the colossal adventures of the characters, the great spirituality present in each of their actions, the precious narration charged with feeling and emotion: each of these elements made me fall in love with the words of the author, who, in time, would become my favorite writer, and one of the reasons why I enjoy reading and writing so passionately.

Over time, as I grew older and my general knowledge expanded, I read other of her novels; I started with the trilogy "the memories of the eagle and the jaguar", which is composed of "the city of beasts" and "the kingdom of the golden dragon". And, although these books are wonderful works of adventure and fantasy, they do not represent even a quarter of what Isabel Allende can really represent as a writer. Later, I delved into the works that originally established her as one of the most outstanding writers in Latin America and the world: The House of the Spirits and Portrait in Sepia. These two novels introduced me to a new universe of drama, romance, history and tragedy. Incredible works with an impeccable style that perfectly portray the grayish life of human beings.

Then I read other of her works such as El cuaderno de Maya, Paula and Inés del alma mía, proving that, in any literary genre she wants to get into, she can stand out in a prodigious way.

Isabel Allende was born in Lima, Peru, on August 2, 1942, the daughter of a couple of important position in her family's country of origin, Chile. In 1945, her family returned to Chile, where Allende lived until 1953. Then, together with her mother, she lived in various countries, such as Bolivia and Lebanon, where she received her fundamental studies.

For work reasons, he spent many years traveling around Europe, in countries such as Switzerland and Belgium. In this way she got to know the different and incredible cultures of different parts of the world, something that would help her many years later in her writings.

When she returned to Chile in 1959, she married and had two children: Paula and Nicolas. Due to the coup d'état on September 11, 1973, she took refuge in Venezuela for thirteen years.

Although she already had a certain literary career in magazines such as Paula or El Nacional and some stories for children, it was in Venezuela where she published the work that would consecrate her as a renowned writer, La casa de los espíritus, which was born from a letter she sent to her dying grandfather in Chile. This novel, her first official work, brought her worldwide acclaim, later receiving a successful American film adaptation.

Allende has received awards of worldwide importance, such as the Hans Christian Andersen Award for literature in 2011, which J.K Rowling would also later receive. Likewise, she was awarded in Chile with the national prize for literature in 2010, and distinguished in the United States by the Academy of Arts and Letters. She is the founder of the Isabel Allende Foundation, where she helps communities in need around the world.

Since 1988 she has lived in San Rafael, California, where she currently writes and works at the age of 78.

The motto of this wonderful woman is "Let your imagination fly and write what is necessary".
