✅ Is it advisable to send a child to learn skills at tender age?

It is very advisable to send a child to learn skills at a tender age. This is especially helpful in a country like Nigeria and even in the world at large. White-collar jobs are not always available for all who are done with school and even those who are working battle with pressures from overly demanding bosses, uncooperative colleagues or a salary that can barely pay bills. Thus, it is very important that children learn skills such as hair braiding, shoemaking, cooking or even tech skills which can broaden their chances or landing jobs and assisting themselves financially in the long run

✅ What are the advantages and disadvantages of sending a child to learn skills at tender age.

Advantages

Children who learn skills at a tender age and make wise spending decisions through the advice of their parents often end up acquiring multiple streams of income, thus putting themselves in line for financial freedom.

Those who may not be employed quickly after school can use their skills to make a decent living and explore other options of taking their business to the next level. This will help to better their lives and free them from unnecessary stress or indulging in business that can ruin their lives in the long run.

Some children whose parents may not be financially strong to further their education may decide to learn a skill and make a living from it and later, they may decide to use the proceeds from their business to go back to school which will further increase their chances of making it in life.

Disadvantages

Children who are raised by parents who are financially free may not value the importance of learning a skill. They may not take it seriously and may end up wasting the money spent on training them for the skill. They may believe in enjoying their parents' wealth and may not understand the impact of generating wealth for themselves.

When children learn a skill, at times they are successful at the beginning and they begin to see financial rewards. Such ones may end up spending their money on things of less importance or value, they may spend their newly gained wealth on luxuries and other articles that cannot multiply their income. At the end of the day, they are back to square one, financially drained and greatly lacking due to poor decisions.

Some children may outrightly not consider schooling as a reasonable decision especially after making money through the skill. They may even decide to drop out and face their business fully. This is not healthy because, in the long run, they may be found lacking when it comes to logical thinking and reasoning and ways of better handling matters including their finances which is something they could have learnt from school.

Yes I learnt makeup, shoemaking, hats, bags and fascinator making. I learnt it before entering the university and these skills helped me to assist myself during my university days and cover up some required payments in school and I'm currently making full use of my skill long after I finished university.

✅ Which skills can one learn at tender age?

There are many skills open to young ones pertaining to their gender
Young girls and even boys can learn hair braiding styling, manicure and pedicure, hats and fascinators, baking and pastry making, wig making and installation, shoemaking. Other technical skills are carpentry and building, POP installation, wire and cable connection, tiling and painting or tech skills like cyber security, cloud computing, email management, virtual assistance…just to mention a few
These skills can equip anyone to be financially free and to be of use in the family and to oneself.
Of course, going to school is very important and cannot be underestimated, but the value of learning a skill pays as well. A salary based job can take you far but having a skill and implementing it can take you even more far in life.
