The steps are quite easy. I will be doing a practical session from my own account

Step 1:
Log into your steemit wallet account using your active key
Step 2.
Go to your steem dollar option and click the backdrop. Choose the market option

Step 3.
You will see a draft like this. Fill in the buy session stating how many SBD you wish to convert to steem and it will show you the equivalent steem the number of SBD will produce

Step 4
When you click buy, to confirm your order, you will get a feedback like this

Step 5
Finally, you will get this feedback showing your order has been placed.

I consider it better to receive rewards in SBD. This is because with SBD, the rates are high. It has more value than the steem.
