Our faces look weary and white as if rubbed powder. Our legs as white as white socks. We barely take our shower in the morning to avoid being frozen by the cold. We would rather wait till sunrise season. If we have wounds, we'll avoid letting water touch the injured area because it would be as if methylated spirit was poured on it.

All these happens during winter. I dreaded winter normally called Harmattan in my country but what about the fashion, I love it. This post delves more on winter fashion in my country.

I love winter Fashion but hate winter itself because of how things are carried out during such seasons and the natural factors involved. Whenever it's winter in my country, people will ensure they took their bath before 7Am as that's when the main cold breeze comes out as cold as. They'll ensure they wear socks for most to cover the skin in their legs from the cold as that's usually the most affected area.

Asides the socks, of which I do wear, I'll put on suit or a hoodie if I'm going out that morning and also put on a long hoodie or suit that covers my body, most especially the upper part. During this season, people are seen putting on lip gloss on their mouth to avoid the cracks on people's lips. Our fashion sense during winter season is always as though it rained snow.

Our heads, hands, legs and body are covered to avoid penetration. Those with suits will put it on with other clothes to make their body thick and warmed by the clothes. This is a typical example of my winter fashion dress. I look like a typical bandit all covered in clothes to avoid cold from penetrating my skin. My favourite winter fashion items are;

• Lips gloss
• Head warmer
• Hoodie or suit/jacket
• Socks most especially and
• Trousers or pallazos

I do wear these items to avoid being salvaged by cold especially in the morning. The dress sense makes me look more like an American.

Personally, I face a lot of problems when winter comes that's why I just hate the weather for some things and love it for some things as well. When winter comes in my country, it do come with this dry cold, and dust instead of snow. Funny enough though. It's always cold in the early hours of morning that's why most people bath early enough so as not be affected or rather use hot water. The fashion problems i face are;

• No simple casuals: I love simple casuals as my form of outfit because it doesn't take time to wear and it makes you free and comfortable especially when going out to have fun with friends. This won't be needed anymore because you'll need a t-shirt that's heavy and a hoodie to warm yourself up.

• Wearing of Socks: It's quite common that when winter comes, people do put on sicks no matter what because that tends to be the first affected place before the body. Me that isn't used to wearing socks will have to put it on throughout the season.

• Wearing of lip gloss: it's also a case that when winter of Harmattan season comes, lips will start cracking like dry clay and people's legs will also start looking scaly. To prevent this, one has to put on Lips gloss or balm on the lips which looks very weird on men like it looks on me. All because of winter.

It's known that when winter come, people's skin do go scaly and dry like wood. I can remember seeing someone's feet when I went to the village. It was as if knife was used to place marks under his feet. This looked so disgusting. We asked what happened, he said dryness.

Can't imagine having such feets. People's lips will start cracking like dry clay making them lick it or peel it like scales. How do we Nigerians keep our skin healthy? You don't need a skin care advicer to tell you to rub enough cream. That's the first tip.

• Rubbing enough cream or oil than usual actually helps prevent scaly skins. To those who have dry skins naturally, it's advisable they use oil cream or coconut oil to apply on their skin.

• Avoid playing rough play or with Sharp objects because during winter, wounds are more painful than birth pains.

• Cracks on the lips can be avoided by applying oil or lip gloss that's sticky so as to moisturise the lip making it wet instead of licking it all the time.

• Use of glycerine and moisturizer can actually help too to maintain the texture of the skin and I also avoid rubbing powder.

My plans for winter are always effective during the beginning of the Mber month in preparation for what is to come as it usually last for months. I ensure that my shinning leather shoes are kept which serve as dust resistance and can be wiped off easily.

I also ensure I have suits in cas I want to go for official gatherings, I can use them comfortably without making a mess of myself in public. I also ensure I put has oils and moisturizer for the skin to keep my skin moisturizer, warm and not dry. I also intend to upgrade my hoodie to a more think and big one so that even the slightest of air can't penetrate.

In conclusion, winter evenings are always too good for meditation as its breeze can take away your pain. Its mornings are so dangerous leaving us with nothing but thoughts on how to protect our skins and make our body warm. That's how far I can go.
