Good day to everyone, hope you are fine and doing well, it's with great delight being here again in steemit after being gone for so long. I come to participate in this contest titled: shocking moments of my life which is organized by @ashkhan. Stay tuned as I tell you one of the most shocking moments which happened to me during my childhood

When I was a child I loved going to the park and play ground because i had the opportunity to play with my friends, the life of an eight years old was never an interesting one but i had the best time of my life. At that time it was August and I had been living in port Harcourt only for about a year and had made few friends. My aunt always promised me that she would bring my cousin over for my birthday, which was in June, due to work , she didn't bring them over so she promised me that during the summer she would come visit me some time in august. By the time it was August I had completely forgotten about the promised she made and my parents never even remembered, which made me more surprised when she and my cousin showed up at my house one morning in august. I was as happy as any child would be, although it has been rainy a lot the night before they arrived.

"Emmanuel, wake up" my mom whispered and shouted while trying to wake me up. "What is it mom ?" I reply with a sleepy eye, "your aunt is here and your cousin also! " She told me. Hearing this I suddenly jumped up from the bed and ran to the living Room, although it was more of a stumble cause I was still feeling drowsy. I quickly greeted my aunt and my cousin and we went out to play.


It was not long when we arrived at the park and decided to play hide and seek. We played the first round and my cousin emeka was quickly victorious within 5 minutes of starting. It was my turn to go find everybody else, I found my other cousin John right away but that was only half of the story, i was feeling pretty arrogant and confident that I would win faster than emeka this time, i saw a lamp post near some big tree, thought to myself that was were emeka was hiding behind one of those trees, I was very full of myself, so i decided to swing around the lamp post while calling out his name. I hadn't noticed on time until it was too late.


The power cables of the lamp post were sticking out from its base, and the ground around it was still wet from the night before. I hit the cables with my right foot while holding onto the iron lamp post which led me to get electrically shocked. I screamed and my aunt heard it and ran over to me, noticing what was happening she removed her sandals and pushed me away from the lamp post and soon after i fainted. She quickly took me to the hospital to do a check up but the doctor said everything was okay that there was no serious injuries, but if I would have been stuck onto the lamp post a little longer it could have been fatal because the electricity that passed through my body was much.


In Conclusion, I survived what would have been my death and I am grateful I did not die. I was so shocked and amazing about how I survived that kind of incident and till this day after that incident i am much careful and nicer when playing games cause I don't want what happened to me repeat itself. To this day I dislike lamp posts.
