Privacy and security can be divided into several aspects that exist in the sphere of the information society’s functioning, and all of them are significant for the individual’s protection. Privacy deals with personal information and right of the individuals to regulate how it is shared within organizations. Whereas, security deals with protecting the data from intruders, invasions or any form of cyber security threats. When it comes to the virtual world, it is very important to preserve the privacy rights as well as adopting a high level of security.

It gathers protection against unauthorized data access through encryption, the use of secure connection for authentication and regular upgrade of software to counter on probable breaches.

So using strong measures to protect the information, people can effectively prevent others from gaining access to their personal information. Hence, personal and information protection are interrelated in the contemporary digital space and uniformly enhance the security of individuals and the entire population on the Internet.

What are the risks and benefits of prioritizing privacy or security?

Increase in the value of privacy enables persons to act independently and protects their data from insults and invasion. The means of achieving the balance for privacy and security which is a critical component of the overall context of trust when operating in the digital space must be found. Good laws provide guidelines that can be adhered to in the handling of data alongside preventing unnecessary risks to be encountered by the individuals or organizations.

Can technology advancements maintain security while respecting privacy?

Modern development in information technology is useful in ensuring that privacy is observed but security at the same time is ensured through aspects like encryption, biometrics, and artificial intelligence. Techniques of encryption protect data during the transmission and storage so that individuals’ privacy rights are protected. Methods based on biometric identification, where user’s fingerprint or face, are used as a password, are also very secure, yet very convenient to use, without having to give any other additional information. Moreover, with the use of artificial intelligence it is also possible to prevent security threats before they occur and keep the users’ anonymity and data safe.

Nonetheless, maintaining a harmony between Security and Privacy needs effective policies, clarity in the policies and companies’ policy practiced with the consent of users. It is important that the technology developers, policymakers as well as the users join hands to make sure that the development and implementation of new technologies complement and boost the existing security standards while at the same respecting people’s right to privacy in this technological era.
