SFS Contest Week 5 | Shocking Moments

It's another day of the week and I'm delighted to participate in this contest today organized by @ashkhan which talks about Shocking Moments. I will be making my entry below so read through it and drop your valuable comment as it will be appreciated.

It started on the day we were expecting to see the results of the recruitment exercise we went for. Here in Nigeria because of lack of job, recruitment into various forces has become the paramount thing which everyone goes into.

Ideally, we were told that since its states by states we are all to gather in our various state capital at a particular venue and the result will be brought there and also announced so that those qualified will start making preparations for the next move.

After traveling a distance because I want present in my state at that time. I played transport and ensure that I was present as they said no names if you are absent and even if your name is called and you aren't present it will be strike out.

So based on this condition all of us both far and near had to make ourselves available. We arrived the venue on time before the scheduled time because we don't want to hear that we were disqualified for any reason such as late coming.

After waiting for about two hours, those incharge of the exercise showed up and then took another one hour to arrange theirselves and then after sometime the called us and then began calling the names of the qualified candidates.

Now what shock me the most is that all the names that was called are names of those who weren't present and they didn't disqualified them instead they said the message of their qualifications will reach them.

Also the number they promised to pick in every state was initially 30 persons but only 12 persons names was shortlisted and they also said boldly that out of the 12 persons 4 people will still have to drop and only 8 will make it to the finally stage.

After looking at the population of those of us that came around which is about 1k+ people and none of our names was present I was shocked and I thought if the criteria they used in their selection.

This shocking moment taught me that here in Nigeria, you need to have a good connection before you can get a job because the population of those seeking for the jobs are very plenty and only a very few who have connections get it.

You can see the case or scenario where none of us present was called upon for the job and also only 8 will be given the job out of thousands of people. More also its not about qualifications but about who you know.
