The Debate (no.38); Practical vs theory

I belong to a society where the generations are affected by this subject. We the 64 % youth of Pakistan studied in colleges and universities without knowing what to do? After acquiring a degree.

So almost half of the youth population is unemployed. And this is one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. This is because we focus on the degrees and didn't give attention to the practical skills.

How do practical skills acquired through experience complement theoretical knowledge in real-life situations?

Theoretical work is useless without its practicality in most humanitarian fields. A few subjects like philosophy are exceptions. But if a person who wants to become a data scientist, chef or motor mechanic reads Al the relevant book but never touches a key board, knife or screwdriver can be, then how can he be successful in his life?

Theory is not a practical replacement. It provides us with the basic knowledge, rules, regulations and procedures, but its implementation is the main purpose.

In what ways can theoretical understanding enhance practical applications in various aspects of life?

A procedure is incomplete without knowing about the guidelines. A well-defined process including all the aspects provide a firm base for the practical. It is a way to avoid clumsiness and can minimize the failure of practical.

Which do you think has a greater impact on personal growth and success: practical experience or theoretical knowledge?

Theory is important in lying the foundation of a subject. But personally, I think the practical approach is more important. To build and polishing a skill "practical"is the way. Without theory, a person may be untactful and have to repeat the process for a long time to gain a grip. But without practical there is no way to improve skillfulness.

Can you share examples of situations where theory alone or practical skills alone have significantly influenced outcomes?

Theory alone is impactful in many physics phenomena and about space science. Let us take the example of a worm hole. This is not yet discovered, but calculations of scientists prove its existence.

I witnessed an example of the importance of practical alone. In the 80's of last century when the Afghan war started, many of them migrated to my country. My family also hosted a few migrant families. They started their work by selling little things and now they are the owners of clothing markets of millions of rupees in the center of the city.

How do you balance the importance of theory and practicality in decision-making processes in your life?

Theory is a basic nesecity to work with discipline. So this is among the starting factors and the rest of the process is practical. Like I'm interested in human psychology. Initially, I was surprised by the behavior of people around me and then I started reading about it. Now I'm at a position of better understanding and dealing with behavior, because I use my knowledge to interpret their way of behaving. I'm less complaining about this thing now.
