At the end of the day, memories are all that matters. Money fades, people change, but memories lives on forever...

Oh yes, memory is very essential in my life. Without the memories of the past, I would not be able to learn and would not be able to function well in the present. Without memories, I can't respond to situations in the right way.

Every human has a sensory organ, which is either short-term or long-term and, in turn, shapes who we are and molds our character.

The brain is always in motion, always processing a lot of information like smell, sound, pictures, etc. We use these memories to decide where to go, make choices, and recognize our parents. As babies, memory starts its functions in our lives once we are born and begins to help us remember things.

My short- or long-term memory helps me remember events, stories, and movies, and I laugh at them even without re-playing; they only re-play in my memory and either make me feel good or bad.

As long as memory exists in us, we will never forget our first kiss, our first love, or the lyrics to our favorite song. On some occasions, I remember when I bought songbooks just to learn the lyrics and when boys in my school would write love letters to some girls in my class. Remembering those times makes me realize that a long time has passed and maturity has indeed set in.

We learn in class and study for exams, and it sticks to our memories as we go through the examinations. I have a friend who studies for an exam, and once she goes into the exam hall and comes out, she can barely remember any question that was asked or what she wrote down, but once the result is out, she's among the best.

Memory is an intricate part of our lives; it's who we are!

2023 has a lot of good memories that make me happy each time I remember them. I might not have had the best of 2023, but I could remember occasions where I was so happy, feeling on top of the world, having all the fun ever.

My best memory of 2023 was my son's graduation. Every time I look at the pictures and recall that event, it makes me happy. I feel good about the growth of my son; where he is and the height he is attaining give me all the relaxation I could think of.

Knowing that I have had an impact on his life with the help of God and seeing his rapid growth gives me joy and fulfillment. It has not been so easy taking care of him from birth until date, and his academic successes are what I remember and give glory to God.

His graduation brought so much joy to my soul. He came out as the best pupil in his set. I couldn't have done it, but hadn't it been the Lord who was on my side? I know God is taking him to greater heights in life, and knowing this makes me relax and watch him grow.

Well, my worst memory of 2023 happened some weeks ago, and it was such a terrifying memory that each time I remember it, I cry because it breaks my heart how it all played out.

My kid brother returned home on December 25 and started acting all funny by destroying things in the house. When I say things, I mean things like television, phones, and other items.

It happened that he was fed the wrong information about me and my business and didn't ask questions, then returned with anger in his heart and destroyed things, and it broke my heart to see him like that.

It hurts so much because my family has been known for its peaceful nature, and all we do is love and live peacefully. We have never had a fight or quarrel, but this one got to me, and each time my memory plays it back to my head, I feel we have failed God. I cry and feel so bad about it. It makes me say that I had a bad end in 2023.

Although I have been trying to forget it, my memory couldn't help but play it often and often. I believe with time it will fade away, but as for now, I feel good and relax because it's a new year already. I leave all old things and memories to remain in the past, where they belong.
