Introduction |
---|
Todays debate is centered around flexibility and socialization. What I mean is that homeschooling is more like a personal learning and every teaching is done to satisfy your personal needs but when it comes to traditional, the reverse is the case because learning is structured to suit the whole class but you have the privilege of learning from friends the topics you don’t understand giving you room to socialize with one another.
Know matter how will look at it both have their advantages and disadvantages. But In todays debate I will be talking in support of “homeschooling”.
Before I go into that, let me invite some of my friends @livagloe, @ngoenyi and @huntershotz to participate in this debate.
Homeschooling is better than Traditional Schooling |
---|
Good day moderators…
Panel of judges
Co debators
And my fellow steemians
I am here to propose the motion which says “home schooling is better than traditional schooling, with this following points of mine:
Homeschooling gives you the privilege of learning at your own convenient time without any hassle or pressure. Students can draw back teachers attention if they miss a particular topic. But, in traditional schooling, the students don’t have the luxury of learning at any time of their choice base on the fact that learning process is structured. In fact, you are even punished for coming late to classes and whatever lecture you miss, forget about it because the lecturer won’t come back to that topic, You will have to meet your friends to borrow their notebook, so you can learn it on your own.
In home schooling, curriculum is designed according to how fast the child grabbed the subject. For instance, if the kid, is understanding biology very fast, the teacher can decide to move on to a more complex topic like advance biology and this will give him an edge over his peers in traditional school who are limited to a standardized curriculum given by the ministry of education for all schools.
In home schooling, let’s assume your parents is a teacher, the student will receive all the attention he can get from that class. In fact, the child will feel so comfortable asking any questions of his choice whether it makes sense or not. The parents will go as far as spending extra time to teach till the child masters the subject. But in traditional school, not every teacher is patient enough to wait for all the students to understand a particular subject at the same time before moving on to the next topic because the teachers are all working with time and they have to cover their school curriculum for that semester.
When it comes to homeschooling, your concentration is 100%. You don’t have any friends around distracting you from learning at that moment. For example, a child who is easily distracted by noise or social activities has no business in a traditional school because he won’t learn anything. The peer pressure alone is enough to make him skip classes to do something irrelevant even when lectures is going on at that moment. The child is better of in a quiet environment where he can focus and it’s only homeschooling that can give such privileges. This will improve his academic performance.
In traditional school you face the dangers of been harassed by cultist, bullies or getting involved in social vices as a result of peer pressure, some times you will hear of different kinds of protests among students and lecturers. But home schooling provides students with a safe learning environment free from all those activities mentioned above. As a parent, you no longer have to worry about transporting their children to and from school or allowing them to travel alone.
I hope with this few points of mine, I’ve been able to convince and not confuse you that “home schooling is better than traditional school”
Cheers

Every child has their own needs in terms of the form and scope of learning. Just as some prefer technical subjects and others more artistic ones, the strategies for familiarising themselves with learning content also differ. And that is exactly what our children need to learn: learning! They need to discover different methods of acquiring knowledge and find out for themselves what works best for them. Unfortunately, neither traditional schools nor homeschooling parents are equipped for this...

You raise a valid concern but from what I’ve heard so far, a lot of schools are trying to incorporate several learning strategies to address this challenge. This allows teachers to tailor their approach to cater to various student needs."

I believe that homeschooling has its advantages, such as individualized learning and a safe environment, but traditional schooling offers socialization and peer learning that is difficult to replicate at home. Speaking of homeschooling, I sometimes find it difficult to write essays on my own, especially when I have other responsibilities. That's why I've found a resource like https://essays.edubirdie.com useful for ordering essays when I'm short on time. It relieves me of stress and allows me to focus on other subjects. Both types of training have their ups and downs, and it really comes down to finding what works best for you.
