Tennis elbow which is characterized by painful condition along with tenderness in body part of lateral epicondyle. There is associated inflammation on the sides of elbow mostly and tennis elbow is also known as lateral happy epicondylitis as these are appear on literal side of elbow.

Tennis elbow is likely to be idiopathic as it's causing pathogenesis are unknowingly. Moreover it is associated with tendinosis, which is conditions of degeneration in the local tendon regions.

Common causes of Tennis Elbow

The most common cause of tennis elbow is the more used of muscles and tendons especially you back of the forearms. It may be due to the golf or other sports.

Hence due to wrong use of swings also become the reason of the extra stress or strain on the elbow joint. It's is commonly observed in the people having age groups above than 40 years.

Few jobs such as carpenter or plumber may also faced the issues of tennis elbow because they are extensively using arm.

What are the symptoms of Tennis Elbow?

There is pain in the lateral or outer side of elbow, Moreover it has tenderness alongside of pain.

In some case gripping or holding capacity is also reduced when faced the issues of tennis elbow.

The arm movement is reduced as and faced the issues of stiffness in forearms.

How would you diagnose a tennis elbow? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?
Few diagnostic tests are as follows.

The doctor check it by examining by asking questions about pain or relief symptoms. Moreover his job or activity which he is doing such as sports or jobs is helping is assessed the tennis elbow.

Few Physical examinations are very helpful in assessing the tennis elbow such as any symptoms of inflammation or swell, redness or deformation.

The palpation such as tenderness is also helpful in assessing the tennis elbow. The range of motion or flexibly in joint. Moreover the muscles strength is also used to check the tennis elbow.

Few diagnostic tests such as x-ray, MRI, ultrasound and EMG are useful in check the tennis elbow.

Physiotherapy special Tests

Cozen's test: The doctor check the resistance of the the patient's wrist extensional during the palpating on the lateral epicondyle. If there is any symptoms of pain or tender it's indication of positive test in patient.

Mills test: in this case the doctor will slower to extending the patient's wrist during the palpating on lateral epicondyle. The signal of Painful condition or tenderness shows a positive test.

Few other differential tests are also used such as

  • Golfer's elbow
  • Arthritis
  • Fractures
  • Radial tunnel syndrome
  • Cervical radiculopathy

Fingers stretching

It's quite simple and the ball has to squeeze in the hand and can be done without holding ball too.

Wrist flexor stretching

Quite easy to do putting pressure and strain on the elbow keeping in straight.

Wrist isometric
I have done it about 5 to 10 second easy to do and effectively work.

You try the finger stretches, wrist flexor stretch, and wrist isometric exercises. You did the finger stretches, wrist isometric exercises and wrist flexor stretch correctly. Always remember to apply heat pack in chronic condition and ice pack in acute condition before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.
