It's a new week and a new lesson, of course my dear teacher @ashkhan should be expecting this entry of mine. I took it upon myself to ensure I follow up these teachings and am so glad that I could follow up till week 5, I feel like a pro already for going through this 5 weeks lesson.
A special thanks to our teacher for this non stop intentional impartation of knowledge. Am grateful. Without taking much of your time, let me delve into the task of the day. I hope you find it interesting.
Plantar Fasciitis is a medical condition that occurs when the feet are overused or stressed, you can tell by the inflammation in the foot region bringing about pain in the heels. The plantar fascia itself is a strong fibrous attachment that can be found between the heel and foot region, extending to the toes.
When the plantar fasciitis is stressed beyond its capacity it can result in damage resulting in inability to walk appropriately. This medical condition can affect both feet at the same time bringing severe pain on its victims. However this condition can be treated easily at home with medication over the counter. But then if it lingers and refuses to get better, one must visit the hospital for proper medical attention.
I think it's imperative to also mention the common symptoms and causes of plantar fasciitis so that you can be aware and also do the needful to nip it in the bud. The symptoms includes.
• Heel Pain
• Stiffness
• A tight Achilles tendon
• Swelling in the affected region (heel)
• Severe pain in the arc of the foot.
The common cause of plantar fasciitis are as follows...
• Sport activities.
• Exercising without proper warmup
• Being on one's feet for a prolonged period of time
• Wearing shoes that are not your perfect size.
• Walking bare footed
• Obesity
• High arch feet/flat feet.
Healthcare or medical practitioner would carry out some physical examination, they start by asking you about how you feel and also examine the feet to ascertain your claims. In the course of the interrogation, the victim is to share everything he or she has to say about the hurt in the feet as this would help the medical practitioner help in the best possible way.
The medical practitioner might need to run some test just to be sure of his or her next line of action. This is just to be sure there are no severe damages attached to the condition on ground. These test includes...
• X-ray
• An ultrasound
• An MRI
• OTC: this means over-the-counter approach where you get some medication to reduce reduce the pain and inflammation, medicines like ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin can be administered but it shouldn't be for long. If there are no changes, you should see your doctor immediately.
• Icing Approach: this approach is to easy the pain and inflammation in the feet. This is done by placing an ice water bottle beneath your feet and then roll it continually for about 10 to 15 minutes. One should feel relaxed after the exercise.
• Wear Appropriate shoes: one of the main cause of this condition is the use of shoes that do not support your feet. This brings about the pain and inflammation in the feet and at other times plantar fasciitis happens when you walk barefoot without shoes.
• Massaging and Stretching: Here is another proven method to fixing this problem, health care practitioners will show you the exact way to this very approach which has proven to be very effective.
Other approach includes corticosteroids injections, platelets rich plasma (PRP) injection to heal injuries and Extracorporeal pulse activation (EPAT).
• Heel Raise Exercise
This exercise helps to strengthen our calf muscles, also brings ease to the pains in our heel, it also helps stretch the muscles below the sole of our foot.
• Calf Stretch
The calf muscle is sensitive when we go through this pain in the heel and for it reason, the muscle tightens is due to pain and inflammation, so undergoing this exercise helps to ease the pain and free up the muscle. This is done with a band which can stretch or even a towel.
• Toe Curl Exercise
This exercise does a lot for us which includes posture improvement, enhancement, enhance stability, reduce breathing effort, reduce stress and bring about relaxation. It can also improve our sleeping patterns too.
As always the approach is a result driven one and like I would always say, they are away dynamic in their workings. They might actually be designed for a particular medical condition but then they seem to be very effective even in fixing other unrelated body pains and aches. Let me specially appreciate our professor again for this beautiful lesson.
Just before I drop my pen, let me invite @rakiya, @m-fdo and @sur-riti to this contest. I hope they find it interesting enough to make an entry. Gracias!

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (2.7/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about plantar fasciitis, it's symptoms, causes, but you didn't add it's types. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.7/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination and history taking, performing investigations but you didn't mention specialized tests. It would be better if you add special tests like windlass test, big toe extension, ankle dorsiflexion test and many more. Great.
Task 3 (4/4)
You try the calf stretch, toe curls and heel raise. You did the calf stretch, toe curls and heel raise correctly. Always remember to cold therapy & rest is the best therapy in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from plantar fasciitis or any type of heel pain. Thank you.
