Greetings teachers and students!
Finally we have reached the final week of our season 21 learning challenge iam delighted to participate and benefited from this course, i so mush appreciate our lesson teacher @ashkan for the privilege.
Now lets move over to week5 assignment.
What's Plantar Fasciitis? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post.
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the fibrous tissue (plantar fascia) along the bottom of the foot that connects the heel bone to the toes.
Another term used to describe plantar fasciitis is plantar fasciosis this is a disorder of the insertion site of the ligament on the bone characterized by micro tears, breakdown of collagen, and scarring. Since inflammation plays either a lesser or no role.
The plantar fasciosis connects the bottom of the heel bone to the ball of the foot which is essential to walking, running, and giving spring to the step.
There are two types of Plantar Fasciitis which are;
• Acute Plantar Fasciitis.
• chronic Plantar Fasciitis.
Acute:The condition can be triggered by a specific injury.
Chronic: There is also a chronic type also known as the classic case of plantar fasciitis which becomes worse over time.
Arthritis can cause heel pain and stiffness that one might mistake for planter fasciitis, Plantar fasciitis is pain on the bottom of the foot, around the heel and arch this picture i attached indicate the point it will start causing pain in the centre and inner side of the heel.
Treatment given to people suffering from plantar fasciitis are ;
• Steroid Injections
This injection helps stimulate hormones effect and reduce inflammation for tissue repair.
• therapy
This is a physical therapy that includes massaging and stretching the affected area.
• lifestyle drugs
This includes selecting shoes that fit properly to provide arch support, aso adjust the amount or type of physical activity engaged in to avoid worse the condition.
• Device therapy
A device applied to the body called orthosis can help in stabilize or limit movement of a damage joint,
plantar fasciitis is common with women and people that above 40 this illness usually affects their choices of food because people suffering from plantar fasciitis should avoid red meat, fried food, highly processed food and many others.
How would you diagnose a plantar fasciitis? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?
plantar fasciitis has common symptoms like;
• heel pain
• stiffness
• pain in the arch of the foot
• swelling around the heal
Those symptoms are a convincing signs of plantar fasciitis.
Clinical investigation may include;
• ultrasound
• MRI
both create images of soft tissues, can confirm a diagnosis of plantar fasciitis especially in cases in which nonsurgical treatments haven't already reduced the pain.
Ultrasound and bone scintigraphy are effective diagnostic tools for diagnosis of plantar fasciitis The foot function index has a positive relationship with the thickness of the plantar fascia.
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practising.
Calf Stretch i used a strong rope placed it under the toe pulled while stretching the toe forth, due to pain and inflammation calf muscles tighten so this exercise helps to improve the calf muscles.
Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.
the strengthening and stretching exercises could reduce the pain and improve muscle performance patients ,
Loosening the plantar fascia can prevent it from tearing or getting worse.
This exercise doesn't really needs alot of effort rather it need alot of patience as it is done gently and only on the affected area to avoid worsening the situation.
I will love to invite @eliany @dequeen @blessedbee to participate in this contest.
Your practice shows you understand the exercise well, and I can see how much patient you are while doing it which means you will be able to carry it out on a person who experienced this pains.

This exercises are really effective. They will really help to improve flexibility of the muscles and they are simple to carry out too so the situation doesn't get worse

Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (3/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about plantar fasciitis, it's symptoms, causes, and types. Plantar Fasciitis can be cured by many ways and that's good you point out then. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.3/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination and history taking, performing investigations but you didn't add the special tests like windlass test, ankle dorsiflexion test, and many more. Great.
Task 3 (3.8/4)
You try the toe curls, bottle rolling and calf stretch. You did the toe curls and bottle rolling correctly. But in calf stretch you have to keep your foot in normal position not to flex the toes otherwise you feel less stretch and try to keep the band on the metatarsophalangeal joint location to get a good stretch. Always remember to cold therapy & rest is the best therapy in the treatment of plantar fasciitis. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from plantar fasciitis or any type of heel pain. Thank you.
