The Pillowcase-Quilted Bag

Hello Everyone!

I am new in this community and would like to share my idea of a bag project. The fabric was originally intended as one of two quilted pillowcases. The fabric was a remnant of the curtains I made in our spanish home. The thing was when I was making the pillow, I felt bored making the 2nd one, so I had an idea to make it into a quilted bag. I felt it was an interesting challenge and so this bag was born.

This had been started at the time when I was still working, but it took me ages to finish this. I had a very stressy corporate job and crafting was my way of de-stressing. The materials I used had been remnants too like the pink lace that I discovered at the Saturday fleah market in my city. I just bought it without a project and thought I´d hoard it for a while and give it to my lace stash. So here I was able to make use of it .

To make it looked feminin, I used a blue lace as trimming and add two pockets inside. The lining used had been from the same fabric line and color hues but with flower design and I also added a zipper as closure. The handles were actually stuffed. I sew the two handles like a tube and stuff it with cotton balls.

I make bags out of sheer de-stressing and until now, I haven´t really used this one. But come Summer, I might use it when I go Mall shopping. I used to make bags though before when orders were there. Now as a retiree, my time seems to be so short because blogging is more fun to do on Steemit.

Welcome to the @needleworkmonday community and what a wonderful project you brought with you. I still feel like a beginner sewist and bag making is something I still have to learn.
Yours has such a springy and soft color scheme, I already can feel the sun come out (I so want a bit of sun, here it is raining cats and dogs). I love the dark ribbon you used at the top, its a nice contrast.
I am sure @muscara @marblely or @shanibeer have better directions, but you could simply save the needlework graphic (right click and save to a file or on a cellphone save to photos)

Thanks for a wonderful comment.. yeah, bag making is fun to do..there is a lot of improvisation and patience is also necessary because in the end you'll surely have a beautiful end product..
