Google said that water consumption in its facilities has tripled in the last five years. In Oregon, the center is using a quarter of the water supplied to the entire city. According to Google, its data center is using as much water as 29 golf courses in America. In fact, like other tech companies, Google never disclosed how much water it was using. This is the first time that Google has disclosed how much water it uses.

David Mitton, a sustainability consultant at the New York-based Uptime Institute, said Google is probably the first tech giant to disclose its water consumption. Earlier, no company used to disclose water consumption. It was kept secret. But now Google has made itself transparent on water consumption.
