The relationship between man and buffalo is a long-term one. But dealing with animals is always easier and more enjoyable when you have empathy and understanding. To be able to relate to buffalo you need to understand their psychology, to predict their behavior you have to understand how they think and why they behave in certain ways. A good understanding also builds confidence for both the human and the buffalo.
When faced with a threatening situation, the buffalo's nature is to love to run, and thus its outlook on life is one of vulnerability rather than attack. As human beings, the way we react and feel in certain situations depends on our maturity and experience. The same goes for buffalo, which is why early training and careful handling are so important.
