An investigation into the Tuesday private wallet exploit within the SolanaSOL/USD ecosystem revealed that the Solana Slope wallet was to blame.

The root cause of the attack was an accidental leak of users' private keys from the Slope wallet backend, Solana Status said Wednesday.

There is no evidence that the Solana protocol or its cryptography were compromised, Solana stated on Twitter.

The private keys were compromised as a result of Slope inadvertently sharing seed phrases with an application monitoring service, Solana said.

Slope issued a statement about the rape, saying they have some hypotheses about the nature of the rape, but nothing is yet firm.

Meanwhile, on-chain analysts speculated that the exploit was possible because hackers gained access to the initial phrases of users that Slope logged into its centralized servers.

I would advise anyone touching the slope to regenerate their seed phrase into a different wallet as soon as possible, the Solana Labsco-founderAnatoly Yakovenko.
