Well, I am in seventh heaven when someone, some poeple or some communities ask me to tell about a unique tradition from my country, Indonesia & mainly my region, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.
Yeah, without no doubt I guarantee those are a bunch of unique traditions in my hometown, Aceh. And yazz, one of the unique tradition & interesting to share is Peutron Aneuk
a.k.a. turun tanah.

Based on some of articles on social media which one I read and based on my experiences in my family when my elder sisters birth the baby, as far as I knew Peutron Aneuk is one of Acehnese tradition when in one of their family members birth the baby and they will do this tradition to give a lot of du’a & sholawat for blessing the baby before they leave or go out from their house first.
As far as I am concerned, Acehnese will give permit to their baby to leave or go out from their house when the baby age is approximately 44 days, 3 months, 5 months until 7 months old.

2. Why The Tradition Is Unique ? |
---|
From my personal standpoint, why Peutron Aneuk is one of the unique tradition in my country, especially my hometown, Aceh due to the fact that we do some of ritual based on our religion, Islam and do something interesting plus unique also in that special tradition.
Yeah, no wonder, I knew that owing to the fact that I looked at my elder sister did that tradition, Peutron Aneuk procession approximately one and a half years ago to her little son a.k.a. my adorable nephew, a baby boy in my village, Pijay.
To begin with dressing their baby boy with adorable outfit, prepared some meals & beverages to the guess, do a lot of du’a and sholawat and so forth.
Yep, there is an Ustadz or Acehnese prefer call him, Teungku
. At that time we invite one of humble Teungku in my village.
His name is Teungku Nasir. At that time, Teungku recited a plenty of du’a to my lovely nephew, a baby boy. If I am not mistaken, we call it Peusijuek
. Teungku did peusijuek to the baby boy with some grains on his head or body while recited some of du’a, too.
Teungku recited some of Surah as a good du’a also on the glass of water therefore ask my elder sister a.k.a. mom of the baby boy to gave to drink to her baby boy.
In my point of view, this is the peak of unique tradition of Peutron Aneuk. When Teungku took a big tray which one a lot of fresh fruits such as grapes, dragon fruits, pears, apples, longan gold and so on plus glutinous rice a.k.a. pulut . Again & again, meanwhile recited some of du’a, Teungku feed my nephew, a baby boy with those fresh fruits and pulut to taste & stimulate his tongue so that his sense of taste will be more sensitive of some foods. My elder sister told me that ritual tradition name is Peucicap . |
---|
Furthermore after peucicap the baby, Teungku will recited some of Sholawat or salutation to the baby while brought him outside and their parents will protect him with an umbrella and saroong thereafter made their baby to stand up & step on the ground.
MasyaaAllah, I am on cloud nine to looked at the procession & ritual tradition of Peutron Aneuk of my adorable nephew, a baby boy. Approximately an hour later, we asked Teungku and some of guests plus our families to enjoy the meals and beverages in the special day, Peutron Aneuk of my sibling’s baby boy in that blessed day. Some of guests & families gave a lot of special gifts also to my sibling’s boy in that special ritual unique tradition, Peutron Aneuk. Yep, this is one of Acehnese tradition to blessings the baby by gave some adorable gifts, indeed.
