So today's participation is in the
Steem Indonesia and the topic this time is The Role of witness in the growth of Steem.
Witnesses are influential parts in the development of the blockchains that are based on the block. Blocks are built by the witnesses and we can say the witness as the block producers. Now I will discuss the attribute of the witness by answering some questions.
Blockchain is the immutable ledger that recorded the transactions and all the activities in the network. Anything that can be stalked or recorded on the blockchain concerns the business and the transactions performed in the business. Some important elements of the blockchain are distributed ledger technology, immutable records, and smart contracts.
So for the development of the blockchain, the transactions are recorded in the blocks. The data in them can not be manipulated due to the fact of the high-security system. Witnesses in the blockchain are designed to store all the documentation and activities we did on the platform such as Voting on the other's post, Commenting, transactions, posting, etc, and the various other activities that are performed on the platform are stored in witnesses. They approach our accounts by the keys we used in signing in.
Witnesses are designed by programmers or computer engineers that are experts to make such programs and they help to store the activities or build the blocks. We can understand that it is the witness of the activities that we have committed or performed something in the blockchain. Witness did their work by using the public keys or the private active keys using cryptographic techniques.
Witnesses are actually the dealers of the whole steemit network and the earnings as well such as the Steem and SBD control and balances. We can say that without witnesses we will not be able to maintain the balance on the platform and as a result, it can not work. Some important work that is done by the witnesses is the following.
- All transaction data is stored or recorded in the blocks.
- Price rates are recognized such as the trading of the coins in the blockchain.
- Different Activities such as the posting, commenting, voting, transactions, and resteeming of the post are all recorded in the blocks.
So from their roles and functions, we can understand how much the witnesses are important for the development and elaboration of Steemit or any blockchain. There are many people that are functioning as witnesses on the platform and their benefit is that they get yielded for their challenging work. In the prize pool, there are some tokens or a portion of about 10% that the witnesses acquired due to their vocation.
So that was all about witnesses that there is the need for witnesses for the verification or the validation of the workings in the blockchain and without them, the system can not properly work.
The importance of the witness is great on the Steem blockchain as I have discussed without them it is not possible that the Steemit platform can work properly. We can choose the witnesses by acting our votes to them. An important thing that we should keep in mind before casting our votes for the witness is that we should choose the responsible witness that works properly on the platform and contributes to the growth and stability of the ecosystem.
There are so many witnesses on the platform we can vote for the 30 witnesses Our votes can help the witnesses to work or contributes more to the ecosystem. Good reputation witnesses bring positive changes in the development of STEEM and its growth.
A maximum of 30 witnesses are allowed to which we can vote on the Steemit platform. I have voted for the 17 witnesses on the platform. So it's the screenshot for my votes for the witnesses from the wallet of my account.

I have voted for many of the witnesses but the witness I prefer the most is the @pennsifwitness due to its contribution to Steemit growth and development. The @pennsif announced his witness about the 3 months ago and due to his hard work and compassion he is also selected as the best contributor for the growth of the steemit platform.
He has also a good ranking in the steemit witnesses and due to that fact I also trust this witness for his compassionate work. By ranking, we can expect how many communities and people support and cast their votes for the witness.
