The torii gate at Itsukushima shrine is one of the most photographed monuments in Japan. It is located on the island of Miyajima that is adored by pilgrims as a sacred island. I am very impressed with its design that rises about 16 m tall and shines in the middle of high tide as if casting on water.

This gate to Itsukushima Temple built in the 12th century is the most famous torii gate in Japan. In Japanese culture, the tori is not just a gate; it is a psychological barrier separating what is sacred and what is secular. Therefore the contrast of its bright red color to the colors of the sea and the mountains is simply staggering. The torii collar is counter hung with this стопор overwhelming sea and storms divinity which has conjured every continent over the centuries.

To add more excitement to this site, this Torii Gate is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Undoubtedly, the power of this special place can be felt at any time of the year as there are the greens, rocks and flying birds around the gate.

Seeing the torii gate at Itsukushima isn't merely outstanding the torii gate in other words impressiveness is passed over but instead in this case opens the doors to the world of Japanese spirituality and culture, no less remarkable is the fact of the relationship between nature and the ancient peoples of this beautiful country.
