Choosing Varieties: Choose your strawberry varieties depending on your climatic conditions and what you wish to do with the fruit. The other difference is that the June-bearing variety is a good choice when you want strawberries for canning or freezing as it yields a heavy crop during early summer. On other hand, well known as everbearers, these types of strawberries produce smaller quantities with larger intervals between harvest periods. Care: It is also important to keep your strawberry patch hydrated and moist although care should also be taken to avoid excessive watering. Desirable to the plants is providing a mulch to the plants not only to prevent the weeds but also to retain water, moisture from the soil, and to prevent dirt from clinging to the fruits. A healthy crop of strawberries and berries requires organic balanced fertilizer applications from time to time.
