There are power plants in every modern society as they change many forms of energy into electrical energy that powers homes, industries and gadgets. There are mechanical works which assist in the generation and distribution of electricity in the most efficient manner.
Types of Power Plants: There are class relations power plants in accordance with the sources of energy that they utilize. The fossil fuel power plants for example, coal and natural gas power plants employ fuels to create heat, provides steam in turn to the turbines which are connected to the generators. The Nuclear power plants too produce steam that is used in turning turbines but by using nuclear reactions. There are also renewable energy plants that depend on gods’ natural processes to mint energy such as hydroelectric, wind power and solar to mention but a few.
Conducting Electricity: The power generated at the power plants is transmitted through an interconnected transformer and power line system. Long distance energy transmission is carried out using high voltage electricity such that electricity from the electricity generation station reaches a supply network and is further supplied to the end-users at lower distribution voltages.
Efficiency and Innovation: In today’s world power generation and plants have targeted at accelerating performance whilst cutting down the negative impacts. Options such as combined cycle gas turbines and enhancing renewable energy systems focus to van g
