Champions league is back this week and it’s time for the boys to ditch the ladies for football again😅.

There are 4 games this week with some mouth watering contests. It’s no doubt the standout is the return of Atletico Madrid’s boogie man Cristiano Ronaldo with his unpredictable reds.

Chelsea host Lille in their attempt to defend their title and Ajax is set to battle it out with Benfica. Juventus and Villareal are set to lock horns as on Tuesday 8th of February.

Let’s begin with Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United.

Atletico Madrid vs Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fans of Atletico Madrid must be sick of facing Ronaldo since he’s responsible for their champions league woes. Ronaldo has been a constant torn in their flesh with the recent most memorable being his comeback with Juventus some years ago. However, it’s not going to be all about Ronaldo this time around.

Ralf Ragnick and his unpredictable reds travel to the Metropolitano to face a struggling Diego Simeone side. Manchester United have been struggling and unpredictable and same can be said about Atletico Madrid this season. On their day, either of these 2 sides can be very hard to play against.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have both won 2 of their last 3 games in the league and are both leaking a lot of goals at the moment. The reds have conceded 3 in their last 3 games while Atletico have conceded same.

It’s no doubt the most inform players in the away team are De Gea, Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho. Bruno has been on and off this season and Cristiano all though not very clinical at the moment is still Cristiano and we all know he can score anytime especially in the champions league.

Correa and Suarez are probably the most informed players in the home team although the whole team have been very poor.

It’s going to be quite exciting to see which of these 2 sides go for it tomorrow the 23rd of February. All eyes will be on the champions league man Cristiano to produce some magic. Should he taunt Atletico again, I’m certain that would hurt Madrid a lot but wouldn’t surprise them.

World Campions vs Lille.

Champions of Europe and club World Cup champions Chelsea will be hoping to progress to at least the quarter finals of the competition. They aren’t in the best form themselves and although they can’t seem to score goals now, they’re still very much defensively strong. It’s going to take a lot for Lille to break that defense.

Thomas Tuchel has some tough decisions because his team hasn’t been attacking very well. His most expensive signing isn’t playing very well and the breaking point for the Chelsea fans was the fact that Lukaku had just 7 touches in 90 minutes during the whole game against Palace. A lot of that can be attributed to the inability of his teammates to find him but he has to take some of the blame.

One attacker who has been very consistent for Tuchel over the last 2 months is definitely Hakim Ziyech. He’s been balling and scoring for the team as well. It took him a long time to find his feet but he’s definitely looking like the player Chelsea bought.

So the big question this evening is “does Tuchel start or bench Lukaku?” As a Chelsea fan I just hope that whatever decision he decides to take helps the team put the game to bed early.

Lille definitely did not think they’ll be far from defending they’re league 1 title and probably not even make European football next season. However, they’re still a tough team to play against and will have a lot to play for against Chelsea.

Villareal vs Juventus.

Unai Emery and his Europa league champions host Juventus at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Max Allegri wouldn’t have expected the bad run he’s had so far with Juve. He would have hoped to at least have a title race but his beginning to the season was very disappointing.

Villareal aren’t doing bad in the league and actually have 3 wins in their last 4 games. They’ve scored 9 and conceded only 1. Juve have scored 6 and conceded 3 in their last 4 games. Juve has a lot to do if they want to progress into the quarter finals in a good place.

This will certainly be an interesting game to catch.

Benfica vs Ajax

Group stage hero Sebastian Haller and Ajax travel to Portugal to face a Benfica side responsible for putting Barcelona in the Europa league🤭.

Sebastian Haller is the leading goal scorer of the champions league with 10 goals and will be looking to add more to his name.

Benfica have lost just 1 out of the last 4 and with their leaky defense should be praying and hoping Haller has a bad day.

Ajax are top of the league in Eredivisie with a 5 point difference from second placed PSV. They’ve kept 4 clean sheets in their last 4. However, this should still make for a very good game.

I do think Ajax will defeat Benfica and I hope Haller gives me some goals for my fantasy 🤞.
