For several years now, a famous story has been circulating that the biggest European clubs will create a Super League, which will, of course, be closed. But UEFA has decided to put an end to these incredible speculations that would truly change football.

And today came the news that the names of 11 clubs that will start that league have appeared. Mohamed Bouhafsi, editor of RMC Sport, claims the deal was made by Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter, Milan and Juventus. The British The Times states that these are 11 clubs and that there is still no signature from Manchester City.

As soon as the news arrived that the European rich were planning to launch their league, Uefa issued a fierce statement announcing drastic penalties for all those who would possibly participate in the Super League.

“Uefa, the English Football Association and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Association and LaLiga and the Italian Football Association and Serie A have learned that several English, Spanish and Italian clubs are planning to create a closed, so-called Super League. In case this really happens, we want to reiterate that UEFA, English FA, RFEF, FIGC, Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, but also FIFA and all our member associations will remain united in our efforts to stop this cynical project, a project that is based on the own interests of a few clubs at a time when society needs solidarity more than ever.

We will consider all measures available to us at all levels, both judicial and sporting, to prevent this from happening. Football is based on open competitions and sporting merit and cannot be otherwise.

As previously announced by FIFA and the six federations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams.

We thank those clubs in other countries, especially French and German clubs, who refused to be involved in the idea. We invite all football fans, supporters and politicians to join us in the fight against such a project. That persistent interest of a few lasts too long. What is too much is too much, ”reads the Uefa statement.
